You are probably right as I am typing this from the comfort of my bed with thoughts of loading another bowl

I do have one of those alcohol lamp things laying around I bought like six months ago and never got around to using... no denatured alcohol though. I have a feeling iso won't work either lol could be wrong tho. A candle is a good idea, might smell pretty good too

Iso will work. Didn't you ever hear about all those ppl nearly blowing their arms off because they sprayed and flamed inside the SAB?

Fuck, even salad oil will work.

Save yourself the trip to the gas station and go to HD or lowes instead and get a propane torch. Lasts wayyyy longer
and they're only 7 bucks for 2 of the big green coleman outdoor tanks. They don't require you holding down a button,
they stand on their own really well because they are wide, gets a scalpel red hot real fast, last forever, can leave
it running during the sesh so you don't have to keep re lighting it, I could go on and on about the pros.

The only real con is propane is toxic in high volume so don't forget to fully turn it off after
use! It's not recommended for indoor usage for this reason but for the amount of time that it is on in total there
is no problem.

Plus propane burns clean so as long as you turn it off and don't let it leak you'll be fine :hank:

Same here! I have one of the trigger light ones so I turn it on and off frequently. That little fucker can heat up a 7x7 room rather fast.

Welcome Waxbrain!
The first pages of this thread are great. You have to dig a bit more after the first 10-15 pages because we can get off the confession topic but the whole thread has good stuff...

These are maybe not the stable as a full on propane torch but they have many of the same advantages that people are talking about... this is the kind of thing I use. Far superior to an alcohol lamp or bic lighter

I use something just like that and it works great. Just have to refill it often. I use it for dabs as well though and that uses alot of fuel either way

I confess I'm proud of myself for turning this into this. The bare spot has started to pin now too. I guess I'll get to see Madhatters purple mystics after all. Told ya I'd fix em. Not the best but hey it's the first thing I've done from scratch. My 64qt is going to be so great. More primordia. I'm like so super psyched. My first proper mono. :bearbreakdance:

I have to chime in here. I absolutely LOVE my bacticinerator. Not only does it look like a

But it also makes the sterilization process incredibly fast, and you can keep it either in the flow or in your SAB without fear of the repercussions of having an open flame (especially one as powerful as a torch). Next to my Flowhood and AA921 it's my favorite toy.

*Note however I moved its position from when I first got it as after about a 6-8 hour marathon of sterile work enough heat was being emitted out the rear that it started to melt the HEPA adhesive that secures it to the box and that right side popped off in the middle of doing transfers. Luckily no damage was done but it could've been bad. Since angling it differently I've encountered no such problems. *

That thing is awesome! Holy shit. How big is that flow hood? Did you build it?You should probably get those cobwebs out of your windowsill.  Looks like you are collecting all sorts of stuff there.

How does that thing work? Do you just stick your tools in the hole? I might have to get one of those things this year. The prices aren't bad on the used ones on ebay.

Yeah I got mine for $40 shipped used. Stick your tool in for 5 seconds and it's sterile. Flowhood is 24"x48", yes I built it with the help of SpeakSoftly and JanuaryWolf, using Gr0wer's build.

And yeah my house is a wreck. Exemplifies the importance of proper sterile technique:lol:

I almost have my space cleaned up to a satisfactory level. What kind of hepa filter do you get anyways. How cheap can you actually get a filter for and what kind would it be?

Mine was $130 shipped. Gr0wer has it on his Kit.com Account - might as well help a brotha out if you're going to buy that product. Less durable than most flowhoods, and it is recommended to put chickennwire or other such metal mesh to protect the screen from random slips with a scalpel. I obviously haven't done it yet, but you probably ought to. I went with the same blower he did though I'm sure you could find a cheaper model that would be just as effective. Materials cost me $97 though I also splurged on prettier wood than necessary. Can't thank SpeakSoftly and JanuaryWolf enough for helping my pick up materials, building it at their shop, and transporting it back to my house. Cool cats those two.

Getting my 24x24 for 130 incl shipping, from a German company. Not suitable for the US though, you'd have to pay import charges.
