^ haha.. I tend to do the same. I try to stop myself, but sometimes I just can't help myself.
I PCed 60# of WBS and every last jar contaminated. I wasn't paying close enough attention to my storage area temperatures and it was killing me. Dropped by temps down by adding an AC duct to the closet and I'm back on track with nearly 0 contams.

the best way to beat the 'inspect everything' mindset is to have so much growing at once, its impossible to check it all everyday.

I confess. Me either. And I need to soon. I confess, I sat through a 3 hour time share harassment in order to get a bunch of free stuff. It was totally worth it to say no for 3 hours!

Eat, you've got more patience than me. I would have left in the first 5 minutes. So now I'm wondering what the hell was so great that you wanted to sit there for 3 hours?

Not entirely true. Huge temp swings are vectors in a few areas for contamination. Not everything's so black, and white. There are several variables. One of the art forms of this hobby is to figure them all out, then be able to prioritize them accordingly. This could take one's entire life, or only a few years. Mileage will vary depending on individual cultivator's skill, class, talent, and style level.

Good to hear. I'm glad it went to some one who will appreciate it. I picked it up to help someone out that was hitting a rough patch, but I wouild never have gotten around to doing anything with it. My myco plate is more than full. Hope everyone's having a grate Friday!

when 60pounds of grain go bad, it is black and white. the grower fucked up. plain and simple.
you could ring off a million reasons why it went bad. everything is guessing expect the only true constant variable in this hobby. and thats the cultivator. so i blame the constant variable
otherwise you are correct hammie. YOU could spend a lifetime trying to figure it out. or just focus on good technique and properly made grains. especially 60lbs of it.

A lot of times issues compound. Huge temperature swings open several different vectors for contamination. Couple all that with bad grains, and you have a recipe for serious disaster.

thats not temp swings. thats just a hot ass room. hot ass rooms dont make 60lbs of sterilized grain go bad.
no need to ponder compounding issues when the main one is plain as day. thats all.

well are we talkin inoculated or un-inoculated jars?
i assumed homeboy was talking about inoculated jars going bad. in which case, temp is irrelevant because the technique was jacked. poorly prepped/inoculated grains will fail in any environment. my only point was that it is easier to fix the technique than it is to ignore the possible technique issue and assume a airduct is going to solve 60lbs worth of failure. start with the main issues then work down.
suggesting his issue was just a 'oh shucks the temp was off' is a huge noob mistake that you kinda reinforced.

I'm so excited about all the shroomy fan mail I got today! Came home to three envelopes with spores. A leucistic Z strain Gizmo was working on and AA+, a mystery outdoor cube from Fl. And some exotic spores from Bagels which I will definitely work on growing someday and sharing. Here is the thread for them. So amazing to have them in my collection.
In celebration I am giving out two free ganoderma sessile wedges in sterile tubes since I am making some up tonight. The first TWO people to say they want them in the thread here and then PM me gets them.
