I just got done wrapping a sleeve of plates with the parafilm. I cut a bunch of strips, there a little long tho. I can almost wrap it around twice. That shit stretches good. By the last ten plates I got a real good feel for the parafilm.

I've heard of people using one square for a single plate

Try this... pull off a length that will go around 2/3 of your Petri, then fold it long wise ... like a hot dog bun or folding a 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper so it is 4.25 x 11... Then anchor your Parafilm to the side of your Petri with a thumb or finger... then gently stretch it and wrap it around at the same time - you want to finish with about 1/2 inch overlap. The double thickness helps it stretch more consistently and also seal up against the Petri seam.
I'm sure there are videos on the ol google machine as well..,

My secret pride? After many transfers From a wild azurescens print, Was able to get a clean culture on some grain I sourced from a friends brewery. Later spawning to mini pots where they were introduced to wood. Took right to the wood and quickly I had some azzie loafs. From there it all goes south, I added some fresh straw Small amount) and the Mycilium disappeared with in a couple days. My secret pride was my Slug cage I made to keep the slugs of my pots.
SLUG CAGE AND AZZIE LOAFS. (Not to be confused with "hamloafs")

This is why I made a slug cage. The slug in the picture is rappelling down from a web. Slugs will eat every cap in your out door beds fast. Go to bed with a nice flush maturing. wake up to a bunch of bruised stems missing there caps.

Not one shit, if wrapped.
If unwrapped, mine will go bad in the SAB as well.
I've seen those slugs bungee like that as well. Wouldn't call it a web though, it's just their slime as far as I can tell. I was surprised to see them do that the first time, but I've seen it quite a few times more since. I also have a slug box. I just use plastic containers upside down, with holes in them stuffed with rolls of hood filter material (thx to Eat for the rolling up strips of filter material idea, Pinky thread though I use different filter). Just put it on top of the soil where mushies are coming up (from contam subs buried), put a little dirt up the sides of the box so they can't get under, and voila. I had to add filter material at a certain point, because when I went to check in the morning, one snail was making it's way back to the soil coming out of the filter material. Making more holes to fill up tightly is a better approach to more FAE than loosening the filter material, when it comes to slugs. The filter was on top of the box (where the hole was as well), and the slug had left a trail there and back, and eaten all the shrooms that were growing, leaving just a stump here and there and a half eaten cap. I'd imagine them having no trouble getting through your box though..? Don't they just slime their way through the holes?

Good tip there Psilo- thanks mate! I've been struggling to find the right amount- always too much or too little. Imperfections in the Parafilm also really screw things up for me.
I must confess: this is my first time making LC's!

Thanks psilo, I'll try the double thickness next time. I'm faster with cling wrap. I struggle to get the paper off the parafilm with gloves on. And I even cracked a dish trying to pinch the parafilm to get the wrap started. I think I'm going to pour another sleeve just to play with the parafilm.

The backing should be longer than the film leaving a tab, like so:

If you're using a smaller width roll or cutting to a smaller size it helps to gently start the stretch and tear the backing to get it off:

Parafilm is the shit and really not that expensive when used efficiently/correctly. I confess I was going to post a write-up on using it...sorry for cult talk in here.
