Nice! I need to do something like that in my basement. There is nowhere upstairs (where the climate can be controlled) that I can really put more than a few jars.i need a nice insulated closet or locker of some kind where I can control the lighting and keep it a bit warmer in the winter than my basement usually is. Good job man.

I've put a lot of thought, effort, and time, in to building a small but efficient myco closet. I find any excuse to open the door. The pride is in the details. It's not big nor fancy. But it's my biggest pride accomplishment to this point in my myco journey.

Oh hey! Awesome job. I'm not the only one who's converted there linen closet into a myco closet because of space constraints.
I confess this was the face I made when I got the last bag of wheat bran at the lot store. The fact that they even had wheat bran this time was amazing since the Hodges mill stock rotates constantly at the lot store. I wanted some fast because projects are coming up soon. I'll find a better source later.

I confess:the first time I actually tried growing was 2 years ago. I bought a syringe bought a PC and cooked 1jar of rye, no polyfill or micropore. Just an unmodded jar of rye. Went into my bathroom and unscrewed the lid then squirted the whole syrninge in the jar. Wrapped the jar up in a black trash bag and kept it completely out of sunlight....spoilerno shrooms were grown thought to myself "man this isnt working, I did everything perfect" was discouraged and gave up for about a year n a half Finally decided to take it seriously this spring. Started doing hours of reading a day to try and understand the odd works of mycology, finally have a slight grasp of it. Pretty proud of myself for getting this far in the hobby! You guys were a game changer for me....

My favorite part of amateur mycology so far are the puppies. I went to a pet store to buy coir and forgot my wallet. I still spent 30 minutes petting dogs, though, so it was worth it. It's going to be hard to go to the pet store and not walk out with a new friend in addition to my coir next time.

if you do, please message me, I'm getting fed up with people getting rid of their pets because they misbehave. when a dog misbehaves it is trying to communicate that it is missing something, they need a leader who can fulfil their needs.

Agree with you 100% there. As much as I love dogs I'm definitely not able to care for a dog right now on account of working full time and living alone. I'm mega allergic to cats and fish/reptiles/birds/rodents aren't my thing, so I've just got to steal belly rubs from other people's dogs for now.
I'm buying my coir 1 brick at a time :P

working full time isn't a problem, it only takes a minute or two two or three times a day to teach your dog what it needs to know. just remember it's more about teaching than discipline.

I confess that there is one tiny side pin in my 27qt but nothing on the surface. maybe they will all magically erupt through the casing layer. My larger mono has no casing layer. So much waiting. Sigh. It makes me nervous. At least I know I'm growing cubes though and not mycogone and everything smells normal. I looked real close and don't see anything sketchy except the larger tub has one tiny pea sized spot in the bottom corner that looks a bit weird.

I confess that I wasted a bunch of parafilm yesterday. I kept pulling it out the box thinking something was wrong with it because the paper was all crinkled and the parafilm was not sticky. So I pulled a bunch out and cut it off. Paper was now not messed up, but the parafilm still wasn't sticky, wtf is wrong here. So I pulled a few more inches out and it still wasn't sticky. I was getting mad......... Then it kinda clicked that I might be wrong about parafilm, I gooogled "using parafilm". I'm now educated on parafilm and realize I wasted about two feet.......

Yea. Something just big enough to do your thing, you could put down in your basement. Just brain storming. I remember I would just have smaller tubes inside bigger tubs for my trays and cakes and a tub for my supplies, Tub that fit in a bigger tub I could pull out for an sab. Then just put it back in the bigger tub and stored jars and shit in it when not in use. Every thing would look just like 4 big tubs stacked in the bottom of my closet, The hanging cloths would drape right over the front and I had several pairs of shoes in front for camo. Sure I wasn't doing bulk and was using outdated teks, But I had lights on in the tubs, Misters and air exchange Inventions. Couldn't even tell when tubs were stacked and closet closed. Looked just like anybody else's tubs of winter cloths and shit in every closet around.
If I had a basement I definitely would be getting a mini shed or similar and make a pimp ass micro work station. Gotta go clandestine in your endeavors. dhype, I could even probably swing a little donation for the cause if it's a factor of you having your own space or not. Amtr Myco gotta have some space, Gotta "Re the Search"
Like I said, i'm just thinking out loud, brain storming.

I just ordered one of these for a fruiting chamber. They're pretty tidy and have lots of ports for ducting, etc.

Does it matter if you keep (clingfilm wrapped) petris outside of the SAB? I'm running out of room inside the SAB to actually do any work in there...

I confess I'm glad I bought this burner that I use to make my agar. The kitchen and floors are being refinished since I everyone upstairs moved out so I don't have access to the kitchen. After already two days of eating out I am sick of it. I dug the electric burner and my small pressure cooker out of the basement. I filled the cooler up with ice and got some proper groceries and plastic bowls. Here we have some mushroom soup with fresh maitake, king oyster and shimeji mushrooms. Also added some dry porcini woodear and oyter to the mix. Threw in some gnocchi and some fresh thyme, rosemary, garlic, shallots and cream. I feel much better.
