It doesn't have to be wild. I'll be happy to get any oyster grown. And yours are pretty. And I said or from the wild not must be from the wild. Also at least I'm sure it's a good strain after see your pics. <3

I have my excess tubs, jars, and grain in the other side of the house (double house) up stairs, in a closet, in a tub with a lid is Completely infested. But my open bag of oats down stairs next door was untouched.
Silver lining: Found a new source for grain I'm going to check out tomorrow. Claims to have rye grain, winter rye, oats, rgs. Which I never would of found had the bugs not gotten to my wbs

I constantly keep control over my pests by using diatomaceous earth. Unless the grains already have bugs then they are no match for my obsession with this divine powder. I keep it in a little bellow duster ready for action. Every time I clean I reapply since it only works when it's dry. Plus the constant circulating air and my cat seem to help too. Or at least I assume heavily circulating air isn't a friend to winged pests.
I confess I just had a funeral for my oyster on cocoa mulch experiment. I put the bags in my outdoor patch to see if a little benign neglect will help and sanitized my closet. I'm not giving up though. I have the bratslavias coming in 2-3 weeks and the Blue Oyster Culture coming this Saturday. Tickets are on sale at Ticketmaster. Ba dum chhhhhh. Don't worry I promise not to quit my day job. I have plants to change some of the parameters close to what I used for my ganoderma sessile and grow at least a few with proven methods to make sure I get a few meals for my troubles.

Also I just investigated the prices. Phenomenal if you buy bulk! Perhaps I'll give them a try someday.

Ooooh. Amycel has a seperate pleurotus page. Do they sell anything else besides common buttons and pleurotus?
If I ever want to start a farm this seems like the place to go.
I confess I'm looking at photos of mushrooms growing inside peoples houses. I'm fascinated with the idea of inoculating an abandoned building. It would be so awesome!

Thats actually a pretty good idea, provided that it didnt cost you much (just laying down a few buckets worth of high spawn ratio bulk sub) and you knew for sure it would stay abandoned for a few months, and you dont get caught tresspassing.

I was thinking finding small locked away room or set of cupboards, and seal up the room. then filter all windows, and set up passive himidification. then setting up some beds or something. maybe in an abandoned bathtub
if this sounds a bit
its cause it is.
but the benefit would be a set and forget farm with floorspace you dont pay for.

I was thinking more like when people get leaks in their houses and random mushrooms start popping out of the walls but on a grander scale. Something magical looking.

Abandoned places are too full of other contaminates to do anything edible with. Mushrooms are great at breaking down their sunstrate and will absorb anything in the walls.
Also I have been thinking a lot lately about building materials and other items made from mushroom mycelium as well. Living furniture.

TheBlackCat said: I confess I've lost all faith in purchasing any spawn from outside vendors. I'm doing this shit myself from now on. It's too hard for me to tell if it's my fault or the companies fault. It looks like there might have been mold I missed in my replacement spawn. The mold growing in my oyster bags looks the same as the first one they sent me. Ugggh. Those bags are going outside. I'm going to open one and take a sample of the mycelium and clean it up on agar and then cut a few slits in it and see if I can get some fruits using benign neglect. I ordered three fresh cultures from a vendor with really good reviews on ebay. 100 percent feedback from all 188 customers. I got a lions mane, trametes, versicolor, and blue oyster.
I guess after the pan cyan contam and the oysters I'm done. My ganoderma sessile I did 100 percent on my own with my own grain and substrate is perfect. Also all my purple mystic jars grew out perfect I did myself.
People reviews say his stuffs aggressive. I'll grow it out and see. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hericium-erinaceus-lions-mane-mushroom-liquid-culture-12cc-/222613895597?hash=item33d4d279ad:g:gEcAAOSw6btXRQnh
I'm glad you posted that, been wanting to experiment with Lion's Mane. $5 is worth a go.
