I confess that my sense of temperature is way off and I'm a little embarrassed. The jars must have been hotter than I thought they were because they set again. I think my fingers might be a little numb.

I would have been full of a profound sadness. I can barely get stuff done lately with everything going on and I have a bunch of substrate to make soon and wouldn't want this to do again on top of it. My kitchen time is limited too past a certain time because I don't want to keep the kids that live upstairs awake. Although I still could probably grow stuff in the liquid I'm not sure what I'd do with it then. Is it wrong that I am more concerned with the fact that my plates gelled than my fingers being slightly numb. The woes of peripheral neuropathy.

That would have been my first guess. Agar melts above 95 degress I think but the jars didn't feel hot which is a completely different issue. Read above. I know I'm a bit silly sometimes but I'm not quite that daft.

I read something about agar hydrolyzing if you cook it too long and not setting so I panicked a bit.

Also I confess I've decided I don't give a fuck about doing shit in the kitchen anymore cause I'm moving soon anyways. Plus I will have oysters going out in th open in a few days so no one will be none the wiser.

Also I just got the fuck scared out of me by my phone. Damn Amber alert. I'm glad to have em but woah that's loud.  I keep forgetting my phone can make that noise. It's terrible. Last time was a few weeks ago for a flash flood warning.

It should solidify when it cools,  but if already cool they may have gotten water in them

I confess I let a nice PESA flush in an outdoor box turn into a piles of fly invested slime while I was on vacation...

AND I failed to collect pan cyan spore prints while on location!

(I did have a very chill time with my wife though)

Media gone sour

A lower pH before the PC run/boil makes your agar stay liquid. Funny thing is, if you would add citric acid AFTER it went below 80° again, it wouldn't matter, aside that you'd have to account for possible dilution of course.
