I think you have your definition of lazy twisted. Taking on more than you can handle and wanting to do an extra project isn't lazy. It's kind of the opposite. It's just not a good idea to take shortcuts.

All they did was offer to send me another bag of spawn. I was like you think you could maybe throw in a handful of plug spawn too maybe. Hopefully they'll give me some plugs of shitake or lions mane cause I really want to like these guys. I can pull what I need off the plugs and put it in a petri dish right?

Going to tiger drop some pan myc tonight finally. I didn't like my last dish so I grew it out again.

I confess I am very unsatisfied with my PESA and KSSS cultures and I'm not even sure if I want to transfer anything from them. They look awful. I'm going to make a fresh batch of agar tomorrow and try again. There's lots of white fuzzy stuff it just looks super erratic and not like my cultures usually do. It's hard to tell what's what in all the white fuziness.

I confess I finally have something on grain. I made a small test run of my panaelous cyanscens. Going to do a 27 quart mono. I have more grains soaking to fill up two 64 oz tubs. One with purple mystics and the other with reishi. I'm hoping to PC some agar. I was wondering can you cook MYA for the 2 hours I'm going to need to do  my grain jars or would I end up with some kind of caramelizing of the sugars? If so I think I will just do 8 jars. % quarts of spawn for the purple mystics and 3 for the reishi since the sessile is so damn agressive it will still beat out contams with such a low amount. This friggin purple mystic culture is incredible looking. I took that one little tuft of rhizomorphic mycelium and it grew into a monoculture.

Will get some pics tomorrow before I chop up the culture. I have to try and remember to save some to transfer too.

I confess that while I've only been successful with one pan grow (out of three) I don't understand why better cultivators don't grow them exclusively... they are fast like cubes and about twice as strong right?

Are cubes just that much easier to grow and harvest?

Dunno? But I'll totally let you know how I feel as a novice cultivator about pans.

Pans only deliver about 20% BE. I can see 200% BE from cubes first flush. Also a good ape culture is usually pretty close to pan strength. I like pans but they ain't worth the effort IMO.

Pans were probably more worthwhile back when people hadn't a clue about decent yields and were too lazy to look for good genetics.

Thanks for the seasoned response there Pasty
APE are a bit tricky but I can manage them just fine. Even with smaller fruits they do well weight size because they are so dense. They are faster than PE imho. I'll keep working on pans just as a curiosity and for the challenge factor.

Dream confession: I dreamed that I inoculated a giant jar with reishii, next day they were pinning all over. I'm figuring they'll be ready in 2 months, so that's how long I have to find out how to get to the dream dimension and how to bring shit back from there

Agar only takes 15 min. In the pc, so I would think it would be fried after 2 hrs.  I would think you would lose to much water from it in tjat time frame.

I cook mine for at least 45 min just in case because my cooker fluctuates around 12 psi because of the burner.
