My a/c went out on a Friday night, and I rent so I assumed my air conditioner wouldn't be fixed over the weekend ...had to rush and move my grows in the one room we were going to reside in with a window a/c unit until the central air got fixed. Everything survived! Bonus: air conditioning was fixed the next evening! On a Saturday!!!

You don't really need to follow a specific tek. Just make sure you filter and blower match specs then build a box
around your filter with a depth at least twice the thickness of your filter. Then attach the blower to the top over
an inlet hole and you're ready to go

And a fan regulator if necessary.

I'm not very construction savvy.

What do you think the best tek that really spells it out as much as possible is? I have read a few and Im honestly still a little lost =/

I confess I have tried to get a friend in the past to help me build a flow hood but he kept going off tek so I kindly told him not to worry about it. I may not be able to build things as easily as him but I follow directions well and get results.

There are a ton of designs out there.  Good plywood, screws, blower and the filter. Any hvac shop will have old blowers cheap to free.  You might have to replace the motor and clean.  Amazon or eBay for the filter.  HD or lowes will cut the wood for you if you don't have a saw.

I just built this last week.

How loud is it? Comparable to an open dehydrator?

3-4x an open presto dehydrator.  A box over the blower would likely bring that down to close to that of the dehydrator.

I confess that I got some super fresh samples of turkey tail today to clone but I can't get past all the worms in the bag. Wtf do I do to kill them off but still preserve the turkey tail.

soak them in water
wild clones are where antibiotics come in handy.

you can also dehydrate them to get bugs out. they'll squirm out in an attempt to escape the heat thats baking them alive. i usually do the soak and the dehydrate. you'll get a lot with the soak, but my dehydrator almost always pulls more out.

I don't know if I want to open them. What if the worms get out by accident and into my projects. These turkey tail are just so fucking nice though. Stupid worms. I feel like such a wuss. I'm so scared of bugs.

Also I can't dehydrate them because I need to clone them.

hmmm. pressure cook 2 mason jars of water. drop the turkey tails into one of them. let them soak overnight. next day, remove the turkey tail from the water jar with a nice clean utensil, then give it a quick dunk in the other jar of sterile water for a quick bath. then take it out and make transfers.

Fucking maggots. Maybe I can just find another sample. There are like 4 or 5 of the fuckers wriggling around in there messing up my shit. Maybe I'll try some salt water with ice. That might kill the fuckers.

why do you suggest a second bath?

The first jar of water will have all the contams that are on the outside of the fruit in it after the soak. The
second bath is to wash all that contaminated water off before you go for the cut. Cron even recommends putting a tiny
bit of bleach in your bath water
