LizardWizard said: confession: I've been thinking of just cutting squares out of the hood filter material I have laying around to swap the pinky with (edit: to be clear, I have not used the pinky, just swapping as in potentially using). I thought about it a few months back, but then decided to give MP tape a try. I'm not completely in love with MP tape. It holds up well with cubes, but I think for my Hericium, the filter material will be a lot better. I'll try the filter material with cubes too of course.
And Eat, I don't mean any disrespect by this, and I still want to try the pinky stuff, though I might check out what they have at the local fish stores first (I have about 3 or 4 options to pick from so they're bound to have at least something similar). And I do think you're overhyping it all but I think it's funny shit so I'm down with it.
And another confession: You guys, you know who you are, the off topic bashers, yes you Psilo, among others, are the reason I started the I'm so excited thread :p This thread generates so much excitement with me, and I noticed that it was mostly situated in the off topic posts, but they don't go with mush cult OTD because it's about mush cult
do you have a picture of the hood filter material? id like to see it. you can post it in that thread if you want. i know it isn't the same.
there are also some similar filters that you can get at fish stores. but they are far more expensive and the pinky filters are the higher quality filter material compared to those. i have a bunch of fish tanks and have tried many different types for fish filtration. the quality of the pinky filters is high and for the price it is one of the better options for fish filtration. you can also rinse it and reuse it for fish filtration. i also use it for ac vent material. ham had posted a similar material that he uses to place over his ac vents when he does clean work. i wanted to try that as well. but im not sure how thick it is or if it has other things besides the filter in it. the pinky filters do withstand pressure cooking. if you do find a few, post it up.
cool thing is, i can reuse it. i have enough to fill all of my tubs and don't have to use poly or anything like that again. i just pressure cook it after use. a 10$ roll fills more than 13 monotub filter holes. id like to see you try the other material. definitely worth a try. is it thick?
i used to use micoropore tape for years. moved away from it.
mustangbob has a cool thing he uses for filters. its a sponge.

My confession...I've been checking out sponges lately...The round tack sponges seem cool..Activated charcoal sponges are also available.
They could be superglued together if needed.

I think it would definitely benefit from being doubled up for cubes. Hericium's would do fine with one layer I think.

I confess I haven't grown APE before and don't know if the mycelium looks the same as other cubes. I clipped the tip of a swab off in this plate after streaking a couple others with it. Bueno or no bueno?

i confess, im watching game of thrones tonight. and i made tacos for dinner for the fam with home made quac.
lizard yeah that might work. if it is what i think it is, it falls apart really easy. you might need to layer it up or fold it several times to achieve your goal. keep me updated on it. and let me know if it tears easily. i like the durability of the pinky filters. it is a tough material.
that kind of looks like polyfil in a way. maybe layered.does it say what the filter is made of?

I threw away the wrapper a long time ago, but I think I remember reading it said polyester, so that would be polyfill, yes. It doesn't fall apart like polyfil does, but it does come apart easily when you tear it. If you pull it, it will start stretching out a bit first, and then tear, pulling out more fibers as it tears. It's probably the cheapest kind of hood filter I could find.

I do find that interesting man, gimme a link. Confession: I miss cultivating, watching the boards and shooting the shit about cultivation so much that it's becoming fucking painful.

You should really capitalize of the fact that you got fruits and clone some tissue samples. The cultures from clone will be more apt to fruit.

both of them. If it's not a cube, and you haven't grown it out yet, expect failure, and be happy with whatever you get!
Actually, that's a good rule with cubes as well

what do you guys recommend for cloning pans? i always found cutting stem tissue from the tiny stems extremely difficult.
agreed. that small cluster will send you floating on clouds.
pan cambo are amazing. i do like pan tropicalis. they have this very euphoric feeling and i can go to sleep on them. then wake up tripping. then go back to sleep. very strange.
