Just got done making my first set of MYPA jars. If I had to guess what monkeys ass smelled like it would smell like peptone. That stuff is nasty.

So, I have a very small PF plate jar that I dropped a Ps. Cyanescens swab, which, after 2 weeks and a shake in the middle, is showing very aggressive growth. I'll be waiting for it to colonize completely, take a tissue sample to agar, and crumble the PF to a mix of woods then.. I'll be doing some more reading up first, now that you say the same parameters apply.
I'm so excited

I am really impressed by substrate plates, They out perform agar in terms of rapid growth, Inoculating spawn, and even sectoring for isolates if you are careful, they may not be the best for eliminating contamination however can be combined with agar for that purpose. At least when bacteria is the only present contaminant, when mold is present in a wild print it may not work so well. but in my current grow spore to sub plate to agar works better than spore to agar to agar.

I read including the substrate you are going to grow on in your plate improves the speed of colonization and decreases the lag that's caused by coming into contact with unfamiliar components. I want to try it sometime. Maybe I can make it with a bit of rye grain water and manure and strain it.

I use an AA 75X. It's fucking great that I don't need to babysit it, I can run it anywhere, it makes very little noise, and it won't run dry. But it's definitely pricy and shipping to Canada was insane. But if you have the cash it's a beautiful piece of equipment.

Same. Besides my friends I hang with regularly I have absolutely no interest in instagram, twitter, snapchat and whatever the hell else there is these days
I do frequent facebook for the mushroom ID groups I'm in (and the dank memes) but as far as socializing with anyone lost interest in that after college

I confess I just figured out I was doing something silly. I'm causing stalls in my cultures because I was switching agar formulas. My cultures are all clinging to the tiny cubes I put them on for dear life like WTF is this MYP shit you just dropped us in. Fortunately I know once most of the nutes are eaten up in the cubes they will start to grow out more. Same thing happened when I switched them from PDA to the tapioca molasses agar. I'm sticking with MYPA for these guys from now on and keeping to one culture media for each grow. Newbie mistakes.
