I transferred the rhizomorphic growth already. These cultures are my second ones and I transferred everything over to MYA. Those are the 8 jars in the last pics. I think it looks wonky maybe because the agar recipe I used tapioca starch and molasses. Everything grown out on the PDA didn't look like that. I'll put some more pics up of my third transfers when they grow out. If my pans grow out as nicely on my third transfer I'm going to use them. I think since you mentioned it I may transfer the PM's a few more times.

better safe than sorry. It probably is NOT mold, but just does not look right in the pic. I hope they turn out well for ya!

Me too! You gave me a pretty heavy print so plenty of spores if it doesn't. I got my pans so I'm super happy.

Just spent the last hour or so finally preparing my liquid inoculant.  Swapped the blender lid on, blended it, then swapped my polyfill lid which I put my syringe through to pull the inoculant.  Stab my syringe through, and the polyfill drops into the jar...  lol  I think I'll be pouring it next time...

Good thing it's only 2am and I have another plate... <3

--------------------

I spawned some popcorn casings and had double-overlay cause I didn't put enough hydrogen peroxide in my automated aquarium mister.  I only got one mushroom so I cut off the head part where the seeds fall from and put it in a jar of LC and sprayed it all over a tin of PF cakes I made with gravel, cardboard, and bisquick in my microwave.  I think it will be good cause B+ is so potent.
Triggered yet?

Only a square would say "a cube is a cube."

No, this does not look right...

Okay! So i've been lurking on this forum for a while :P love this thread! Been reading every day the last week just trying to catch up

Even though i am a new grower, i have a few things to share

First of all, i love the stories about what people tell their wives/girlfriends about what they do. Like the guy who said he had a room-mate as a cover up for his grow room

My wife accually lets me do my own stuff without complaining about anything. Maby because dhe likes to eat the fruit more than i do  I do most of my work when she is at her job (we dont work the same hours).

One day i was very bored. So i took every single PP5 food boxes i could find at home. Drilled holes in the lids. And filled them with BRF mix

Had maby 10 1 pint, square BRF cakes. Looked kinda funny

And the first time i was about to sterilize a needle for innoc... well, i found just a lighter to be innefefficiant... so i flipped a Fanta can upside down, poured some 70%iso in the "bowl" that was now the top, and set it on fire...

Allthough all alcohol had not yet evapirated from my hands, and i set my hand on fire... was quick to put it out though

there's definately something wrong with those purple mytics. I doubt  it's mold but it's likely some hidden bacteria in there

I think it's bacteria too. It's in some of my plates as well, and damn hard to get rid of. Definitely transfer the rhizo growth, and do some quick transfers after to make sure it's clean.

It is always a good idea to put the transfer wedge mycelium down, creating a sandwich that gives you a bit of a jump on bacteria.

it's hard to do that when you do transfers like I do.

Poor purple mystics.  :feelingblue: I still have my old jars. I'll keep one of the PDA jar and transfer from that if this doesn't work out. I think the mycelium is cleaner. I only chose those jars because I wanted the rhizomorphic mycelium and the PDA jars had a few tiny dots of bacteria but I can just sample closer to the center of the culture since it's so big. I'm glad I was too lazy to clean my jars. I have like 15 cultures to bury. I just learned about sandwiching the little cubes of mycelium on my cultures and made sure I did that this time around. Hopefully that helps.

Since you wanted to share a fire story I figured I'd share one of my dumbest moments. It's quite embarrassing actually because of how stupid it was. I was in the middle of doing my cultures and I was really tired. I sprayed my gloves with alcohol and forgot to let them dry fully before I went to flame sterilize my scalpel. And woosh. Hand on fire. I panicked and ran to the bathroom and stuck my hand in  the toilet. Nothing was burned luckily because it was only interested in burning up the alcohol and I'll never fucking do that again. Scariest moment ever.

were you  using 90% iso on your gloves? if it was 70% or less (like it should be) you wouldn't have caught fire so easily

I always forget to wipe anything down with alcohol in the first place

Not i, i get trich maybe 2 out of 15 tubs but also it is because im not real picky on my spawn ive had spawn that looked super clean and triched and then bacterial spawn that gave me 2 or 3 flushes
