I had a strange pinhead sized white bug in one of my plates recently. I now lightly dust everything in my plate cabinet with DE. I will not lose my first set of agar work damn it. It was probably one of those mold eating bugs commonly known as book lice.

your makeshift still air "box" is likely what caused this.Quote:

I'd be surprised to find a 12 pack of petris... are you flame sterilizing your needle? making sure you don't let any air into it?

It was because the plastic dishes were a little warped from the PC and it probably was able to get in through the lid. It came from when they were being stored. It gets sprayed inside there with more than enough alcohol and also wiped down with wipes. Wait till I get new pics of all my clean cultures when I do my third set of transfers. I even got a little rhizomorphic mycelium going on. The tapioca molasses formula oddly enough caused the rhizomorphic mycelium while the PDA dishes did not.
It just makes me feel better to have my cabinet dusted where they are. Labs put their petris on sticky mats to keep pests out. It's best I keep my apartment dusted anyways since it's at basement level.
I'm assuming I want to sample the rhizomorphic mycelium right?

Bad day on the job front for a family member. But have one of the most amazing families. And I'm luckily blessed by the universe. I Completely understand the true meaning of life today. I've been searching for a long time. And I was shown today. And I was sober. Haha

It's not quite as meditative at the moment as I'd like it to be. Working on rearranging everything to make more space where I'm at until I move in November.

I confess, makeing a transfer (first transfer, wild print,Psilocybe caerulescens) i didn't cut all the way around and the whole initial growth came up with the scalple. I just went with it and put it on the new p plate. No need in messing with it. Just start anew was my thinking. Messing around with your transfer is much more of a contamination risk than doing what i did in my opinion. Then again, i confess i am not much of a cultivator.
