I'll have take some pics of some pf cakes I threw in the weeds in an empty lot a few days ago. They started growing beautiful fruits after 2 days of afternoon showers, the snails seem to love'em.

I'm glad you are all right!
Is anyone having trouble clicking and enlarging or seeing my photos in my last post. I am. It says image has been deleted by it's original poster. I thought maybe I was taking up too much space and deleted and resubmitted my photos but no go.

Will they eventually expand or will I have to download them again later. It seems to be only newly downloaded stuff. I guess I'll have to show off my amateur agar work later then. Cause ya know I want to cause I'm all proud of myself that I even got stuff on agar and transferred and that when I opened the jars everything was mostly clean. Means I'm doing something right so far. Plus it's just nice to also have an experienced pair of eyes to look at my work to tell me if they see anything I don't.
Oh and I used one of my new glass vial indicators for my PC with a bead that melts in it. Made me feel better knowing everything got up to temperature. Best 50 cents I spent ever.

CapnZ said: I threw some old Purple Mystic bulk sub out in a shady spot in my back yard. 2 days after a heavy heavy rain I had shrooms growing!!
I can't wait to get my purple mystics off agar!
I confess I was so nervous and hot while doing agar work I dropped a jar and I was working in bare feet. Cut my toe but it wasn't so bad. I just pushed the big pieces under and kept working and had to be careful not to move around too much. I was too afraid to stop and clean everything up and kick up contaminants. The 90 percent humidity and 80 degree heat was killing me. Thought I was going to die with no AC in that tiny room. Was drenched again and had to take a shower after. Who knew agar could be such hard work. can't wait to move in November and set up a dedicated work bench. Once I make a few trades I'm going to build my own flow hood so I can keep cool and work comfortably.
So what I did was I divided the pan cyan into 6 different dishes. I then picked my two favorite purple mystic growths that grew into perfect circles that looked like they had no splits in-between them and were compatible genetically or something like that. My brains a little broken right now. I'm sure you know what I'm trying to say. I wonder if they have to grow really big to really notice the splits. I think this was the right thing to do. The black flecks you see are flakes of spores. My technique is still a bit messy and I didn't have sterile swabs or an inoculation loop both of which are in the mail now.
I was super surprised that I had absolutely 0 mold contamination and only 1 dish with visible bacteria. I think there was some I couldn't see in a couple because it was growing all funky or maybe it just wasn't compatible genetically and didn't want to grow together. I have to read the chapters again so I can understand some of this better. Hopefully this works out. Here are a few photos I was able to snap.

That's so funny I have done the EXACT same thing! I started agar at the beginning of this year and dropped at least 3 plates on the floor figuring out a good handling technique. I work in abare feet a lot too.
When you get started on your flow hood give me a shout. I built one this spring and it worked out really well. Love it and would not use anything else anymore. Good luck with the Cyans! That's exciting I have not tried growing them yet.

Confession: ive been microdosing a couple times a week and its been going great, I usually stick to extremely low amounts...today i wasnt really thinking and kinda wanted a little bit of a body high and ate a little more than usuall...ended up eating ALOT and realized i ate too much after i began tripping while picking my gf up from class...shortly after i find myself pacing around my apartment trying to gather my thoughts and screw my head back on, i realizing how high i am, which was bad because i had a job interview...went to the job interview and was offered the job!

Hmm... I don't think the mycelium is very fond of the new agar recipe. I will not be using it again. Good thing I have some on PDA as backup. Maybe it's an issue with protein content. This agar doesn't contain protein. Or maybe the nutes to agar ratio. Luckily I also kept the original tray of Pan Cyan mycelium because I haven't cleaned everything out yet. It's sprouted into several satellite colonies since I cut it up.
One singular cubensis is now poking up through the waste in my yard. Yay! I mean it's just one but I assume 1 means a network is forming. There's more rainy weather ahead too. I hope the termites and ants don't get to it first. Tripping termites.
How would I mix up that pan plate to inoculate it into some grain spawn. Is there a writeup anywhere. Can I just add a little water and take a hand blender to it? I was hoping there would be some way I could just suck it up into a sterile syringe and inject it.

if you have satellite colonies in your pan plate then make another transfer. there's no way to know if it's myc or mold. I'm not surprised your agar experiment didn't work. honey is the last thing I would try to replace as I very rarely use it for myc and it has very little use in mycology. why are you taking the pans to liquid anyway? stick with solids until you get your technique down. liquids are just another contam vector you need to get past, it's worth it if you can get around it but it's a hard thing to master

it makes me sad this place has become so tense that members that have been here for years are feeling like they want to leave. I want to leave but I'm not that important. do you have any examples eat? I'd like to document this crap so we can do something about it

No it's definitely mycelium. It's growing off the chunks of mycelium left over. I did not use honey silly. I used molasses. molasses has the preferred form of sugars just in a more diluted form. It's not my source of sugars it's my source of starch. I don't think it likes tapioca starch. There is merit to fungi really enjoying the bi products of the cassava plant which is where tapioca starch comes from so I'm assuming it has something to do with the extra material. Also my ratio of nutes could be off. I'm still giving it another day. I'm not concerned. It was an experiment and that's why I made backups on PDA plates.
