So now I have the purple mystic and pan cyan spores on agar. Here is my temporary lab space. I think it's kind of nice because I can close the door and keep out a lot of dust. Been working on setting up a shelf for supplies and bins. I can't believe how much stuff I have now. These photos aren't even including the substrate I have. Seems like I'm getting quite the collection. Coco coir blocks, 25lbs of dehydrated manure and humus, kamut berries, perlite, and probably some other stuff. Still need some hydrated lime and peat and probably some other things I'm forgetting about but I'm getting there. Also I'm working on carefully storing the antique glass stored on the shelf so it's a bit messy still. It feels like only yesterday I was inoculating a grow kit and now this has happened. I've decided the dragon and the crystal ball glass art are my shroom mascots.

Thanks! :gethigh:I am a seriously broke so I had to make a lot of trades and exchanges to get all of this stuff. Never thought I'd have so much. I guess you have to decide what's important and what you are willing to give up on a tight budget and how to get things cheap.

:thanx: Hmm... Interesting. Can I mix in a little dehydrated manure into my casing for my pans?

It's easy to get pissed off when people are telling you your apartments a piece of shit because you have to share it worth other people and that I should somehow be able to do better for myself. These people don't even know my situation and getting all bent out of shape because I want to try a new hobby and telling me that if I do grow shrooms with my kit that it's like showing a fake tattoo to a biker gang is super shitty. It's not like I bought straight up mycelium and I didn't see a lot of the guys on here who even bought straight up mycelium kits getting shit. I still had to do my due diligence and learn sterile tech and stuff. I'm proof that you just need to let people find their own way and support them and not be such a buffet of dicks about me not doing things the way you consider to be right. I'm not a person who can just go drop hundreds of dollars. I liked the hobby so I worked really hard and went out of my way trading stuff to be able to get what I need. It's a lot harder for me than most so making a commitment that huge means I need to be even sure if it's something I want to do. You do have one really great sponsor who makes amazing sterile rye berries and pasteurized substrate. This girl has real tattoos and will kick your ass thank you very much.

Oh and what are those long stringy mushrooms that remiond me of enoki?

Yup. Already on the pans and it's only my third grow and I haven't even sterilized my first grain yet. Super ambitious I know. The purple mystics and pans are still on agar.

What are those skinny mushrooms in your signature. They look like enoki and also dinner. :brainscream:

tampanensis, one of the most foul tasting mushrooms in existence. has an incredibly acrid metallic taste.  but the fruits are stronger than PE.

:shockedpussy: Wow! They are so long and skinny and create such a thick flush. I just read they make sclerotia as well. Do they print easy? Are they hard to find? Someday when I finish up my current projects I will have to seek these out. Do they always grow in such thick flushes like enoki? Are they stronger than pan cyans. How do you trigger sclerotia production. So many questions I know. I should probably go read up on it eventually. You just seem to know what you are doing. I found some at our favorite neighborhood spre vendor so I guess they are accessible whenever I want them.

It looks like cyans are a completely different beast with different growing parameters. They are also super potent from what I am seeing. Super excited. Any good pan cultivating guides on here? I got plenty of shit for them.

this is always what you should to for spore germination IMO but force hydration with a syringe may prove a more effective route in extreme cases, I have no clue how old it really is or if it even came from the person I got it from. certain agar additives can help if needed as well.

I hate the stones. are the fruits any more tolerable? aren't they between cubes and pans for potency?

I don't know squat about pans. Never grown em, picked em, or eaten em. Never really read up on them either. sorry!

no the fruits are awful. do whatever you can do mask the flavor. the thing with tamps is they have a really long after taste. like 30-60 seconds. of just pure irony grossness.

@theblackcat....

printing wasn't easy for me. no caps dropped. the only way I got spores was to let pasty plates grow pins (tamps will grow pins on agar very easily and very quickly, often even before its anywhere close to fully colonized) and let them go to maturity just right there in the pasty plate, no FC or anything. once they dropped spores all over the sides of the pasty plates, I swabbed up the walls of the pasty plates with sterile swabs and packaged em up. sent a few out, recently used one of them and it germinated very easily on pda.

no they don't always grow so thick. same like cubes, the full canopy is something we strive towards with good practices and refined genetics.

dont know anything about pans.

you grow sclerotia by innoculating grain jars and never spawning them. ~3-5 months later, you have a jar full of stones. its pretty much the absolute easiest mushroom grow there is. you can grow them under your bed with no fc and no lights. all u need is a jar.

next time you get a good harvest, save a handful of fruits and steep them in hot water to extract all the actives. freeze that shit for later.
after you have steeped the actives out of the shrooms, use them in a recipe that calls for regular mushrooms. I promise you won't be disappointed.

After doing bulk grows in a prison guard's house, I ended up moving in with my weed dealer. What my dealer had failed to mention was that he was in student living and my room was up for rent. So one day, about 20 minutes after we each take an 8th of mushrooms at a park, he gets a phone call from one of the people staying there that one of the apartment managers went to check my room since someone was about to move in and walked in on 4 tubs that were already fruiting.
When we got back to the apartment two managers were standing by the door and my dealer said "shit man what are we going to do?" And I said "I guess I'll just try to tell them they're shiitake mushrooms."
So I ran upstairs and asked the managers if I could help them and they unlocked the door and headed towards the room I was staying in and asked "Whose room is this?" And I immediately confessed it was mine. They walked in and the first thing that comea out of their mouth is, "You got a lot of shrooms dude."
I told them they were shiitake mushrooms and they said "no they're not...but you're not in trouble." I said "I don't want any problems, I'm not some crazy junky, I just like to trip on mushrooms, they're fun." And they both laughed and said "We don't want any problems either." And I said if they will give me 4 hours then I'd have the room completely clear and cleaner than when I moved in. They said "How about this. We'll come back tomorrow at noon at pretend this is our first time checking out the room." And I gave her a hug nland thanked her fucking head off. At this point the mushrooms were really kicking in and I just remember being so damn paranoid hauling all of my shit into the truck and some of it to the dumpster wondering if they were going to call the cops on me anyways.

You fucking LUCKED OUT M8.

Take this as a sign. Once when I was like 20/21 doing my first opp in an apartment, Me and my peoples were weighing out all sorts of shit before the festie. Long story short we left out alil less then a QP of some various powders and didn't put away the scale, hide anything... whats the problem right? its my house its dead bolted. Fucking pipe broke downstairs... we come home to a panicking maintenance guy realizing he walked in on the wrong mo fucking house. We were lucky he was chill and didnt say anything based on what he saw (likley realized that was not a good move)

Never again.

Take it as a sign m8. Sometimes we learn the hard way but we dont have to =)

you can spawn them to bulk. my sig was grain spawned to cvg.

Confession: i havnt been getting much out of trips in the past few years. esp the most recent ones, it felt like the things the mushrooms tried to teach me were things I already knew. it was like sitting thru an algebra class when you passed algebra last year. during all the intropspection, I just kept saying to myself 'i know this... i know this...'. it may be because i moved 1500 miles away from all my friends and family, so i have a lot more personal time to just be introspective on a day to day basis. perhaps it was reiterated to me because i had forgotten them or something... idk. its just weird to feel like my trips have been redundant.
