CONTEST ENTRY: Myco Relationship Confession
I confess I've been growing oysters in a sgfc for the past 6 months so my girlfriend doesn't think all I'm doing is growing cubes. In that time I've grown almost a pound of dried cubes and not a single oyster. Ignorance is bliss!

I never created the idea of no pour agar. Not at all. I just wrote it up in a manner that was easy to follow. I don't call them pasty plates either. To me it's just no pour.

Confession: I am using pour agar right now cause I needed antibiotics to clean up some old master slants. I actually find it a pain.

LizardWizard accidentally submits a relationship contest submission:

I imagine just walking into the  mush room (pun intended) would instantly put me in the right state of being. I've had that with other stuff as well, as long as the place and setting are stable, I feel like just walking in and start doing stuff,  until it becomes almost a dance. That's totally impossible if you have to move shit around all the time before being able to get to work.

And sometimes it just feels like one big foreplay thing

I confess my dumb ass got banned from the marketplace for a day, lol. I guess I can't attempt to trade for cannabis seeds there. I see ppl do it for active cacti seeds, also live cuttings of active cacti, so I figured I would be ok, guess not.

Myco confession. I left some tubs sit in the bathroom for a couple weeks before I got around to cleaning them the night before last.

EDIT - I got banned for a day, but the post is till up, I see it in my threads, with reply's lol.

I struggle to use the glad mini rounds. Stuff grows to fast and hits the sides. When I get more money I will buy a couple more cases of the wide mouth half pints. I will use those for cleaning up cultures and the mini rounds for expanding cultures, then I also get the benefit of being able to tiger drop.

I agree mushboy I'm also able to do 2-3x as many plates with my pour agar set up. I have 4 500ml media bottles that i use giving me 40 plates per PC cycle vs the 15 pasty plates I'm able to fit. I also find my no pour plates require more frequent transfers due to surface area.

another one from me: I love cooking and stirring rye grain before working with it. It feels nice to stir the grain for some reason.

When you guys use half pints for agar do you buy separate lids and just like a single hole in the middle? I made the mistake of using my pf tek lids and covered the holes with micropore...then when I opened the lid to put in spores the tape ripped...lol

I prefer to use unmodified plastic lids. Never had an issue "choking" the culture, enough air exchange occurs via the threads not fitting perfectly, that or there is just enough air trapped in there.

Also, once my mycology supplies come in, I'm making a second transfer of the cultures onto agar.

I do this too...
And I confess that sometimes I make some yummy rye grain salads with extra spawn I've prepared. So yummy and very filling!
