My wife gets sciatica. Is fucking horrible! It completely immobilizes her to the point where simply to exist is to be in pain.

Yep.Sciatica is special hell.  Luckily my back hasn't been quite so bad since I've been on my anti inflammatory diet but my new pain management doctor wants to give me an MRI on the 7th since it still hurts a lot and I'm having a few complications and no ones ever really had a look at why.

I left my shrooms in the dehydrator for almost two days. totally forgot about them. Hope they didn't lose any potency. They look fine.

speaking of flies, I have some fruit flies/gnats in my shoebox that still hasn't pinned. should I bury it outside?

Have other projects? I switched my polyfill out for micropore today, after the about 20h dunk, and put the lids on real tight to ensure it's not getting out... I don't have any other subs yet though... If it gets bad, I would def put them outside, regardless of other subs or not, just to keep the flies out.

the only thing that was spawned. I have like 4 bacterial jars I'm top fruiting but after everything puts out I'm packing up for the year. all I know is there's no pins, it's pissing me off, and that there are more flies every time I look. I feel like it's going to be gone by the time the first flush comes in. is there really such thing as a non fruiting strain? this tub has been in fruiting for just under a month and it's annoying as fuck

That's bc of the gnats. They make the sub stall. Try submersing it for ~24h. Don't know if it'll help though. It works with plants but mycelium blocks keep the water out a whole lot better.. Good luck!

Btw mine were also stalling, dunked yesterday, I can keep you updated on the gnats of you want..

absolutely keep us updated. either way I'm taking your advice. when looking up hunting tips soaking fruits to remove bugs is a surprisingly  good idea that isn't spread around much. if it works for fruits it should work for subs

This is my bike. A really good friend of mine lost his license so he put this together. Couple years ago he rode up to the grocery store, parked his bike and dropped dead. I went down to the police station to help his mom recover his property and they wheeled this out. She burst into tears and told me to have it. Ive only rode it once, back when he used to come buy. Wherever he went, when ever he stopped he had to work on it just to get back from where he came. The Chinese motor would rattle apart. Thing did haul ass though. I should go for a ride today!

Keep your heads up my Friends. If somebody told you it was going to be a cake walk, then they aren't living.

Try more fresh air for them flies. They hate it. Stale air and moisture is there environment. Combat that shit. Your not packing it up for a year. Hang in there.

Oh and my infestation is only minimal. But good to know about the hunting tips!! Dried a sliced maitake at room temp last year, threw away a giant colony of barely visible bugs this year. Looked like dust, even smelled it before I saw it was bugs. Yuck! Those weren't gnats though.

More fresh air wouldn't be possible. I had the polyfill so loose they could get in, bc I suspected bacterial contam. So more fresh air is how I got them in the first place
Not saying you're wrong, just that that wasn't the issue to start with, and it won't provide a good solution for me in my current set-up. Saw the first gnat about a week ago, saw some larvae but not much gnats after that. Hoping the soak will have solved it...

I like bikes ok but have never taken the plunge for one. I think if I ever did it could be for a mid sized trail bike - like an Enduro 450.

Congrats on the huge number of tubs!

I confess that I think this shoe box is really cute with its accidental simulated outdoor grow thing going on!

This is the little tub that just fucking can!
This made me laugh, I love it!

I love your way of thinking! more fae may help me. but I'm packing up for personal reasons. so I'll be done until I get into a new place atleast. I may do a few bottle grows until then but we'll see

Yeah, good stuff. Does point to coir being a risk for contam due to grains in there... Nothing we didn't know already, but it makes me question the belief that contams are almost never introduced during spawning. Pasteurization might actually be a problem on this case, because the grains lose their viability, and without germination the bacteria could grow even easier, since there's more nutes and no plant to control the feeding of the bacteria (plants make sugars, and feed 50% of those sugars to soil life, where the plant species determines whether it's bacteria or funghi that get the goods, that's how plants regulate the soil pH. Funghi makes more acidic soil, bacteria makes more alkaline soil, if I'm not mistaken...)

After 4 flushes and no mold I HAVE to toss my PM sub as that fucker is drawing gnats worse than any other tub. I got to kill them bitches off. Good thing I only have a couple tubs. Going to move the others that are sealed up for a few days while I kill them off.

Well 4th flush was 8.5g dry. Total of 81.5g off of a tube that was 2qt of spawn that was spores straight to grains. I can totally deal with that. Now that bitch needs to go!

Confession

I keep toying over the idea, I couldn't pull it off, of a cross between Purple Mystic and a lucestic or possible APE. How cool would it be to get a APE that showed purple caps instead, or a lucestic. I'm not even sure if the purple that can show up is genetic, could have been environmental as I have yet to get purple to show in mine. I think this would be HIGHLY unlikely to work, but it stick in my head.

I'm not sure how it would work, since the actual larvicidal bacteria is a common contaminant of substrates, I think (wetspot?)...but I have used Gnatrol WDG in my houseplants and had some success with controlling gnats. Maybe place some soil in a pot nearby that has decaying plant material that's amended with  bacillus thuringiensis bacteria?  These gnats are RIDICULOUS where I live...they fit through window screens and they bite ME! Always at twilight...little bastards. I have sticky traps and WDG, and I place a bowl of red wine or beer or just water underneath a dim lamp in the corner when it gets dark. They drown themselves.

I also have noticed that they are repelled by eucalyptus, peppermint, any minty smell, really. Cool Mint Listerine works wonders. I recently got an essntial oil diffuser and I'm going to try running it near my grow with eucalyptus oil.  I'm getting a ton of aborts, so maybe that's the problem , since I'm pretty sure FAE and RH are spot on. We'll see.

Aborts could be caused by gnats as well, yes.

The minty/eucalypt is going into my collection of useful posts. Thanks! I love essential oils!

I have had them for about a month and lucky for me I do not see that many. I only have2 mini monos and one shoebox to move and I HAVE to do it asap since they aint in those yet. I'm dealing with fucking fungus gnats, I know those fuckers from growing bud. They were not much of an issue then because of the full room air exchange being so fast. Now I'm in a basement and air doesn't get exchanged like that. I do have a carbon filter and fan for it, big ass set. I am wondering if I set it in there scrubbing the air if it might snag those fuckers in the pre filter. I do know I have to take care of it soon before they get out of control.

I'm cloning some mint then! I buried my sub out back where it should stay shaded most of the day. I would have soaked it if I didn't drop it out of the tub like a dumbass. hopefully the spiders will take care of the flies. I hope this thing actually does something.

Sorry to hear so many shroomerites are in so much pain. An eastern European remedy is fly agaric tincture, applied externally, amazing for sciatica, nerve pain, muscle spasm. The muscimol mimics GABA and it just takes your pain/spasm away in a moment. You just put a few drops where it hurts. It doesn't work for all kinds of pain, but for those it does work for, it's incredible.

It's really easy to make as well. Just chop the fly agaric (fresh or dry) into 1cm squares, cover with ordinary vodka or other spirit. It's ready in a week.

If you need the relief sooner than that and you have some fly agaric around, just rehydrate with water and rub on where it hurts. The muscimol is soluble in water as well as alcohol.

I'll be rubbing the outside of my next tub with peppermint n eucalypt oil...

If the water submersion doesn't work with my 2 subs, I might put them in the freezer for a night. The mycelium won't survive it, but neither will they... Anyone know if Hericium mycelium handles freezing temps? It's in a glass jar, so even if the mycelium can handle it, the jar might not. Better stick it in a plastic bag before it goes in the freezer...

And way to fucking go Crowseed, nice info!!
