I'm surprised I don't have gnats. I keep my windows open 24/7 and one doesn't have a screen. I guess living only slightly in the suburbs helps. Plus maybe having my air filter running 24/7 is why I have minimal contaminants. Hope it works out.

You have an air filter running 24/7, but keep the windows open... So you're just trying to filter the whole world? Thanks! Nice of you!

It's hot here now, and they're abundant in the outside air, and small enough to enter through the door screen's cracks. Not keeping veggie/fruit waste in the house will help. We have an airtight PP5 container for it, but it doesn't get closed off the right way that often

I never had gnats before either, and that's even with several fruit fly infestations in another part of my previous appartment, with one tote with a cracked lid the whole time. Eventually every one of us that keeps growing will some day have to deal with it, just like another contamination.. Life will find it's ways, no matter what you do to stop it. Might not be often, might not be much life, but it will happen for sure..

I live in the basement so if I didn't keep the windows open I'd be recycling the same stale smelling air over and over again. Plus it's the  only ay to keep cool at night without a proper place for an AC. The windows are small and on the storage side of the basement and I keep the filter inbetween my room and bathroom.

Wow, sounds like a sucky place to live, especially with a kid. Make sure you get out in the sun enough, ppl get sick n weak from not getting enough sunlight, and it only takes about a month of too little light to start noticing ill effects. Connecting them to the cause could be a bit harder though

i confess, the shroomery used to have a live chat feed back in the day. it was kind of a free for all. but other online omc sites still have them. i recall some good conversations with pf himself(psilocybe fanaticus not pussyfart), workman, millet, ralphster, john allen and the bunches. even nanoook of the north.

Kid? Only kid I have living with me is a fur baby. It's not so bad. I'm always out in the sun doing my photography and walking and hiking as much as I can despite my difficulties.

I confess I keep peeking inside this random plate I decided to inoculate out in the open air to see if anythings happening even though I know it's going to take longer. I'll save the other 7 nice plates for real work.

I thought I read you say you just had a kid  Must've been the cat then.

Good thing you get out.

The plate will grow something, but I doubt it'll be much good
