Tbh in hindsight I would recommend skipping pf tek and going straight to agar and bulk in shoeboxes for a beginner that is technical enough to follow directions like a recipe and acquire ingredients without straying from proven methods. Innovation is a common recurring theme of noob failure posts

I went to the local lot store to get gummy peaches and left with a bag of kamut (a kind of wheat berry) because it was the last bag and a sterilite shoebox because it was cheap and I really didn't need them. I just couldn't help myself. Now I have to grow something in it.
Also instant banana pudding cause why the fuck not.
I also took a walk on the river walk beforehand and went to check to see if any wine cap mushrooms were growing at the condo complex. Sadly just inky caps this time around. I got to wondering if wine caps and inky caps could grow well here could cubensis as well? So what does everyone think. Should I spread some spores in the black mulch?

Yes! This is exactly what I do. I love rubbing alcohol. I'd bath in it if it weren't for well reasons.

horse/cow water trough is what I've always heard. I'm not sure it has any merit though. I'm not sure if you could germinate spores on poo, let alone after going through four stomachs. I've never tried germinating anything on poo before but my guess is that in the wild they start on grain that didn't get eaten or fully digested

I think it grows with the straw and manure...cause my cows didnt get grain and would poop out some trippy mushrooms

then I guess the poo will germ spores. nevermind. I still don't think spores could survive a trip through a mamal

I wish I could get some Panaeolus cinctulus spores since they grow wild here but haven't found any yet that I was sure of or even some laughing gyms. Maybe I should just spread a jar of grains spawn around in the back part of the condo complex park in the mulch area under some trees. No one will notice.

There was 4 varieties, got them mixed up. Burma, GT, Nepal/chitwan, and PF classic, from a non-sponsor and full of bacteria, lol.
I had stopped cakes and went onto bulk, but I do like making cakes for fun, and have started them again. I put grains in my cakes, usually by feel/look, but this last time I mixed roughly 1/3 cup dry oats(2/3 when hydrated) to 2/3-1 cup of CVG.
Since I took a break for a while I never changed out my perlite, until cats go in it in storage. I have like close to 4 dozen pint cakes colonizing right now. I will need at least 1 more, if not 2 more SGFC.
@ Kenetic, that used to sit in my laundry room, that's why you see the bleach jug that I never noticed until you pointed it out.
With 20 of my pint cakes I should get 1/4lb+ per SGFC off 1st flush, and 2nd flush usually isn't but like 30% less on cakes for some reason, well for me.
I will continue to run cakes for a while as they are just easy as fuck and a good way for me to burn through slightly bacterial LC, which usually helps them colonize faster. I will try to track numbers the next go around and share.
@Ham - As far as conditions, well they were in my cold laundry room. I had to put a space heater across the room. I also should have had more perlite, and I probably misted to much, LOTS of aborts.
This was eventually moved to the basement and I think some of them went like 7+ flushes. Not sure as some mono tubs started fruiting and I didn't pay much attention to them. For those coming from bacterial syringes, well I don't think I lost a one to mold. They finally just shrunk to half size and production was so low I tossed them.
