I'm another guy that spends forever looking at containers at Walmart. I also read every single day about mycology, and I wish I could fill every day of life with mycology. Mushrooms have taken over my brain and I love it! This is my life's calling

i confess, i have a strong addiction to browsing plastic containers at walmart and target'. i also always look at mason jars, blenders, blender bottles, things i can blend things with and all kinds of other gadgets that involve blending.

call me crazy maybe. id rather spend my weekends looking at cool things i can morph into something useful for mycology than going to a party or bbq.

Crazy? More like crafty. Cultivators rig up some neat stuff.

Why can't I use a glass stove top with my pressure canner? It says it's not a compatible heat source. Would it actually cause any harm to use it with my stove top? That's super annoying. It doesn't even say that on the box. it looks like I now have to go buy a separate burner which is more money I don't have.

There's a plate available for glasstop stoves if I'm not mistaken. You put it between the glass plate and the cooker, that's it. Someone else here will probably know about it too...

I was trying to figure out why I would need it and then I looked at the bottom. It's concave. Is it because it puts too much pressure in one area or because it's concave which mine is and create a seal. i see lots of different reasons discussed.

I was thinking maybe I could straddle the pot over one of these. this one seems to have a pretty high wattage.  https://www.target.com/p/elite-cuisine-electric-double-cast-burner-hot-plate/-/A-51204485#preselect=49123223

Your correct about creating a seal.

The second reason that it’s not recommended is that a full canner load of seven quart jars can be heavier that the stove top can bear. Even if your pot has a flat bottom, if it ends up weighing more that the glass surface can bear, you can still end up with a broken range.

The third reason is that some glass top stoves cycle the heat on and off, and so aren’t able to hold a steady boil. If you can’t hold a canner at a constant boil, you cannot guarantee that you’re getting the full level of heat penetration necessary for your preserves to be sterilized and safely shelf stable.
Above was taken from the web, discard irealavent wording.

Don't get discouraged. You will work it out.

Good info!

Guess you're better off getting a burner! I'm not sure 1440 Watts for 2 hot plates will be a pleasure to work with though. 770 Watt seems a bit low to me, since my electric water cooker is already 1000W.. Better wait to see what others have to say..

The one you are looking at is a high end one. It will work but there are cheaper options. Look around I bet a used one would be under 20... That is given it gets hot enough

single unit with 1100W on amazon, for cheaper

I don't know if this thing will hold an AA though :p

I'd go for a propane burner if I were you...

I can get this one for 25 bucks with a price match. I just looked at my stove and it has a large enough plate for my 22 quart cooker. So my stove is meant to hold very large stock pots. I am just concerned about the small concave area or how I will keep it up to pressure enough. This is a huge cooker I have here.

This is such a fail and such a huge headache on my part. I'm going to give this it's own post now so it won't clog up this space.

I use a 16qt presto on my glass top all the time with no issues. Sure it doesn't sit flat but it works fine

That sucks. Hehehe But at least you made me laugh. I needed that. I got a nice new scalpel today and I think my ex ordered the wrong package because there are no blades. This is why I need my own prime account.

Dude dour3n, I fucking hate when that happens! My blades go loose on me all the time to I'm constantly having to
replace it or bend it inward a little bit. I've had my blade come off in an LC before too

He's so not giving his plus 1 to me. It's rare I use Amazon. I don't shop a lot and I'm more brick and mortar when it comes to getting things. But for the pressure cooker and the amazing deal and the fact that we were working out a trade it worked out good. Just found out from him the blades shipped separate. Phew.

Also to save money can I used my blades multiple times if I sterilize them properly and they are willing to stay on?

mine says that too. i think its a liability in case it breaks the glass stove. i have an aa921 and ive used it on several glass stove tops for upwards of 8 years. 4 at one place, 4 at the other. both filled with 10 quarts of grain.

and by steadily being used, they were used on a daily basis making jars for those 8 years. didn't have any cracks. but i was very wary when i first moved to the new place with the stove. i read the same exact thing on my instructions.
