Well I felt fine. Only drank one beer, just finished a joint (I'm a heavy smoker, that shouldn't have made much of a difference) but I felt extremely hot out of no where. Stood up to go outside (worth mentioning I was in a shed) and the next thing I knew I was on the ground bleeding fountains

did you stand up too fast? I've done that before but I was wise enough to just bend back down and keep my mass low so I didn't get hurt. how small is the shed? does it have good ventilation? my guess is you were running low on oxygen and that added to your loss of blood to the brain

Yeah I did stand up kinda quickly. It's happened to me before but I've never blacked out like that before. Also a pretty small shed and the wood stove was blazing so it was hot. Thankfully I didn't hit my head in a different spot or the doc said I might have died. Freaked me out a bit tbh.

when it happened to me it was terrifying. I was crouched against this wall and I got up to grab a pipe I was being passed and all of a sudden my vision was completely white and I heard my friend saying "what is going on?!?!?" and I snapped back almost on the ground again. I had no idea what just went down. I'm glad I didn't almost kill myself like you did

I think you are right. Fire in a small space without good ventilation = nothing good!

Feel it happen try to fake hiccup and sit down Indian style. Just fold your legs and crumble down since you won't be able to actually think about it. That works for me at least if you can fast enough. Happens to me every now and then at work
Be like 140F indoors your working on some shit and try to stand up and the world disappears

Yeah it was scary. Especially when I came too and was covered in blood. Good thing my gf is a paramedic and knew exactly how to proceed and how to keep me calm.
The fireplace has a pipe that takes the smoke outside. It was just recently lit, so it was putting out a lot of heat. It normally don't bother me, but hey. I'm just glad a few staples in my head is all that came of it.
Yes! That's exactly it bod! I'll try that next time. I shoulda been smart and just stayed sat down. But sitting Indian style like that, gonna try that next time.

Yeah, true that. First time it ever got that bad. I feel worst today tbh. Kinda sick to my stomach and a migraine headache that would knock a horse over. Couldn't even go to the fam bbq...might run to the dollar store after and see if I can snag some cheap myco supplies. Maybe do some more agar work. Boredom comes easily, especially when you don't have growing cultures to work with yet.

Sounds like an extreme case of vertigo. I get vertigo frequently from an old head injury. There are little fluid sacks deep in the ears that, like a level used on construction sites, have a little bubble in them to maintain your balance. At the top of these little fluid sacks are calcium deposits. When you hit your head, the deposit breaks off and floats freely around inside the fluid sack which fucks up your equilibrium. Sometimes vertigo happens because you stand up too fast and the little bubble gets jossled around in the sack and that can make you dizzy and uncoordinated.
The fucked up thing is now that you bonked you dome pretty good the vertigo will probably get worse. Sucks living with it to be honest.

Probably man! I'm just gonna be super careful of it from here out, and if I feel it coming over me again I'll do as bod suggested and fake hiccup and squat Indian style.
I hit it real good too. I'll see if I can't find the picture my gf took.

I had something like this happen not from standing up. I was bartending this one day and all the sudden felt like I was on a ship at sea. The floor felt like it was moving around then it stopped after a minute but my ears were all popped and fucked. I had flu/cold that same week. Never happened again I would describe that as vertigo it was pretty bogus but I didn't think I was passing out

That's weird Bod. Maybe the cold/flu threw off your balance for a bit? That's almost how it was for me, only I didn't get really dizzy until I stood up. Just got really hot and sweaty.

No hot or sweats like with the passing out kind. The vertigo thing I couldn't stand up but I was able to use my arms to grab shit and sit down til it wore off but it was like drunk mode on grand theft auto for a good solid minute.
My ears made crackling noises when I would yawn

Ya in bod's case it was likely mucous in his sinus' putting pressure on the fluid sacs in the inner ear which caused them to warp and change shape a bit which will totally cause vertigo to happen. The ears, nose, and throat are all connected and play distinct rolls in each others functionality.
Edit: vertigo won't make you pass out usually, but it can and it sounds like OP had a serious case of it.

We used to do that shit on purpose... Dumb I know... Get against a wall and bend over and back up quickly and repeatedly for a minute. Then stand up straight and someone pushes on your chest. Out like a light. Last time I did it (15 yrs ago) they didn't catch me and I fell and hit my head. Supposedly seizured on the floor a bit. Woke up with a headache and a very strange taste in my mouth. Not recommended and don't do it kids!!!
