I confess that in my real life I’m often taken advantage of due to my nature of being a giving and caring person. Despite this I’m still blind to shitty character and have pretty poor judgement when it comes to helping people out.

But that’s why I love this community so much. It’s not uncommon to receive larger benefits than the effort I put in. Send someone a print and get three back in return kind of deals. Give some advice and learn twice as much. That kind of shit

I know how that goes man.

Good people are magnets for bullshit. One day I finally decided to just cut out every motherfucker who only caused me stress or wasted time and it was the best thing I’ve ever done.

Mushrooms helped me with that decision. I made a list on my last trip

I used to have a lot of friends. Always hanging out and having a good time. Then, I went to prison for a while and didn't get a letter from any of them. These were people that I called my brothers. As soon as I got out, they started coming back around but they were still doing the same exact shit that we were doing when I went in. The minute that I cut them out of my life, they turned on me. They used me until I had nothing left to give and then they moved onto the next person. Quite parasitic when I think about it... Getting rid of them was probably the best decision that I've ever made. Life is simpler.

I don't have the time or energy to make new friends and statistically, the dude standing next to me will try to screw me over if he gets the chance. I fuck with you guys more than I do with most of my family and I truly enjoy our weird ass community. Even without having ever seen your faces, I feel like I can trust most of you.

I confess I feel like a total piece of shit failure. I was making my first a2g transfers today in a while I just got back into it and doing some gourmet, fuckin lost my blade in the first plate first incision, and then dropped a whole 1/4 plate wedge on the table. Almost flipped my sab I was so pissed. And I can’t talk myself out of the funk I’m in now. This was my first shitty sloppy sab session since when I first started years ago. What the fuck!

Thanks bro. I know it’s not even that big of a deal most likely won’t even have contams, but the issue is I’m so meticulous and plan out every step hours before I get to do it. I’ll be at work just going through the motions in my head, not because I want everything to be perfect, but just because I love being methodical and consistent. Then I get thrown a curveball and can’t cope. It might sound silly but it really takes the wind outta my sails

Not silly at all man I totally get it.  I moved recently(seems like a few others on here too), but it fucked me all up.  I was used to working out of the same room for so long, it was like I had this block.  I was totally procrastinating my first sab session in the new place, bumped the goddamn walls when I did, but so far I got a couple down and everything is looking ok, knock on wood.  But I think the whole block was simply bc I had to adapt to the new room and couldn't really visualize the way everything was gonna go down.

I have so much I wanna get done this winter, and for the first time in a while, nobody up my ass to slow me down.  I feel guilty that I haven't fruited various spores sent to me graciously by members on here, my goal is to have everything I have plated or spores to fruit by May.

I’ve learned to just make a plan and then expect at least half of it to go sideways. On the rare occasions everything goes how it’s supposed to it’s amazing

That’s a good goal man. And I know how it feels to have that burden to give back to this generous community. I get it too, but I have to put actives off for a while and won’t be able to say thank you to all those giveaways I participated in by spreading the goodness. May our kindred spirits unite brother. Really appreciate hearing your experience

Thanks for the wisdom aka

I feel that hard man. I'd wager most of us get into cult as a form of escapism. We spend or dull day job fantasizing about cult and different teams, varieties and species we want to try. Having a suck filled session makes you feel terrible.

My first session back was a fail festival, Burned my hand, dropped the scalpel and a transfer, and bumped the table with me knee. It took a couple sessions to get back in the groove.

I took a break for a few months and I was super sloppy when I started back up. It was like I forgot all of my little tricks that made things fluent. It'll come back.

You either reflect on what made the session go poorly. Or you most likely fail in similar fashion.
I need to stop puffing before a session. Move too fast without and make careless mistakes.

I confess I can relate to a lot of the confessions on this page. =)

Adrenochrome - be kind to yourself. It is important to have the goal of doing things well and being methodical, but if the concerns with that translate into anxiety and distraction while you are doing the work - disaster can ensue. Rather than beat yourself up about it, commit to being mindful in the next sterile session - breath and focus and don't let yourself be distracted by self judgment or worry about what might happen next. Just be in the moment and trust yourself to get it right (or mostly right) and it will flow and each time you will get incrementally better. When my son does something like what you described in his craft I remind him to be kind to himself and to remember that he is learning - and to treat himself with the same patience and understanding he would have for a person he was teaching to do his craft.

One of my bigger failings is that I do not create enough space for my hobby and so trying to do it inconsistently around the margins I end up cutting corners or skipping steps or making compromises that I know are not ideal, yet as a lower priority that is what the hobby gets. One thing I know is that our myco friends are very patient and resilient and try their best even under some of the worst conditions we create for them. We can commit to trying to make things a bit nicer for them with each new attempt and eventually everyone will be shining with the energy of a near perfectly set up grow.

(and yes I will be spawning months old spawn soon... I know it is ideal that I spawn it at the peak of metabolic energy rather than when it has gone into hibernation but I also know fungus is patient and resilient and will meet me where I am.

Happy Grows Folks
