Makes zero sense. I'm really drawn to the law of attraction and spiritual side of life. I want to experience this, but am lost on where to go. Do I just order a kit? How did you guys start?
Here is a good place to get started. https://www.shroomery.org/forums/postlist.php/Board/83
Kits can work but are often crap and will give you a foundation based on bad practices.
Many people have great success starting with the "PF tek" which is easy and works well to get some good shrooms without too much going into it. It is basic ingredients and you probably have most of what you need already in your kitchen.
Terms to search are: PF tek, BRF cakes, Still Air Box (SAB), inoculation, fruiting chamber, spore printing, etc.
There are a lot of nice folks here who are willing to help. Don't mind the A-holes as there are a few just like everywhere.
Some pointers: Spores to grain sucks no matter what people say. We've all tried it and some of us have had varying degrees of success but it is a crap practice and is more wasteful than productive. SPORES ARE NOT CLEAN. Learn to work with agar from the beginning using standard dishes, parafilm, and media. Skip no pours (nothing against them). When you do get some shrooms, make sure you make as many spore prints as possible so you can continue your madness in a comfortable fashion. Use a dehydrator to dry shrooms.
You came to the right place.

You won’t be able to get anything from a spore vendor shipped to California.
Luckily plenty of people here will hook you up, check out the marketplace when you’re allowed to also.

I was wondering: why are people always whining about the noise of their pressure cooker when a dehydrator is so much louder and runs for longer? Then it dawned on me that my dehydrator doesn't have to be in my kitchen. Ahhh the sweet sound of silence... for the next few minutes until my PC heats up

Dehydrator stays far away lol. PC has to be heard, mine likes to spike towards the end.
Lost my temper real fucking bad in the lab today (hasn't happened in a long time...) 6th torch in 3 years. Was in the groove finally, been neglecting my work, and the torch died. Punched my metal storage container and ripped my gloves and just let my work sit unwrapped for a few days till I made an alcohol torch. Fucked my dominant hand, decided to skate to cool down, ate shit for the first time in a good 8 months and fucked my whole non-dominant side. KARMA!
Any good torch recommendations?

Yeah having them running at the same time for the first time is what made me finally realize, like, how am I going to hear my PC with this blaring going on. Not to say that I haven't sat next to a blaring dehydrator all day more than a dozen times... I'm planning on making a batch or two of jerky in the coming days too so at least this knowledge will pay off for that as well

Moved mine from the kitchen to the garage to the back porch. Ahhh sweet silence. Not to mention getting the stink of PE outside. My first heavy load of PE drying in the garage was

I confess I miss the fuck out of cultivating. I'm in a period where I unfortunately just don't have the time/space to do it and I came across all my jars and my PC and blah blah blah. It was a bittersweet moment. I cannot wait to get back to it within the next couple months. But I did find a bunch of spores in my mess of cultivation supplies so I'll be able to get right back to it whenever I'm ready.

Just get a cheap ass propane torch head and the little 1 lb bottles. My torch head was $6 at the hardware store and the bottles come in 4 packs they last me a year per pack.
I had one of those autolight heads but it kept plugging up and the ignitor went so I bought a cheap one and use a lighter

Broke 2 culinary torches already. Countless dab torches and cigar torches. My issue is I use a butane powered vape, so clicking it way too much leading to a breaking of the flint?
Thinking about building an induction heater aka a bactizapper or w/e they are called.

I confess I found 5 jars of cube spawn from May, I inoculated the jars 2 weeks after my mom passed away, but I've been battling a depressive rut. 2 days ago I lost my biological father to Covid19, after already losing my mom, step-dad (father in my eyes) and my sister over the past 10 months. My heart just hasn't been in it lately, no matter how hard I try. To be honest I half assed this grow as well. I had a 5 gal. bucket half full of pasteurized coir that was at field capacity, so I mixed all 5 jars into it and slapped on the lid, I'll check it out in a week to see whats happening, it will be the first time I have done it this way.
