The band twists off ok, it’s the lid thats tough.

Peeling them off with my hand is what ended up bending them, so much better with filters.

If only I wasn’t such a bitch I’d use one piece no mods but those make me paranoid :uhoh:

It shouldn't seal if you flip the metal lid upside down.

I use the leakproof ball lids with a hole and polyfil and it's awesome the lids come off super easy for g2g, I can still fit 10 in my presto and I don't have to worry about rust. I only have about 60 jars so in the process of buying a dozen every other week or so until I'm completely switched over. I love the plastic lids with a hole and a filter.

I use unmodified plastic lids with no issue, just don't tighten them all the way down.

Damn, left the dehydrator running for hours and forgot about it. Was a few caps I printed, toasted...

I can one hand open and one hand close two piece lids. Not so with one piece.

Thumb and forefinger for the win.

If you use a piece of masking tape that goes over the top of the lid and down the sides of the ring it will act as a one piece lid. I have done this numerous times in the past with success. Now I print my labels and do the same thing.

My jars came out fine, unscrewed halfway with some foil on top. They’re one piece metal lids, I’m not sure that’s better on not. Still learning the ropes.

It’s good to know nothing will explode if I forget the lids on tight though.

Been a while since I've confessed.

I confess, I let a shoebox of perfectly fine thai fruits go without harvesting for so long the fruits rotted and moulded over just cause I never got around to it.

I confess I inoculated a LC from a germination plate because I was impatient. The growth looked pretty clean, but still.

And you are an awesome member buddy!

I confess I have been trying to give it a real go but I absolutely hate and I mean hate pouring plates.

I'm using pp petris and tried disposables I just can't dig it. I myco bagged my plates and cooked them and a batch of agar. It's just such a hassle vs pcing pasty plates, pulling them out and sitting them on the shelf. I don't get how it is so beloved by some. I can pack a PC full one every two weeks and be good. Maybe if I had a hood and made 100 plates a week.

It's also summer here in a 200 year old house, wirh an insane spore load so most culture work is super frustrating.

Also how would one go about getting a shipping rate for something like a 21qt PC if I don't know where it's going just in the USA. I don't think there is a big enough flat rate box, I would most likely have to fed ex or ups it and I don't have either with a location within 30 mins if me.

Dude pouring plates is so quick. Like a minute tops per sleeve.

You just gotta get the technique down and get used to handling the plates and lids.

I confess I’ve been putting mush cult on the back burner. It’s just too hot to do anything.

I have started getting some new cultures ready on plates so I’ll be ready to jump right into all the new stuff I’ve accumulated over summer.

The pouring isn't the problem it's fast af.

It's the fact that there are more steps than no pours and I get about the same result. If I pour that day it's mix, PC, let cool, set up sab, wait for proper temp, pour, let cool, wrap. It eats up a few hours

If I wait it's mix, PC, let cool, put away, set up sab when ready, melt agar, wait until it's at correct temp, pour, wait to cool, wrap and put away. It eats up a few hours but is more efficient time management wise

No pours are just mix, pour, PC, take out and put on shelf a few mins after it hits zero, stack them high to minimize condensation. Maybe 3 hours tops. I'm not sure how many I can fit in my new PC but I bet it is a 2 and 1/2 shitloads. I still have to figure out how many wide mouth pint muda bottles fit. It is more than I currently own and I gotta but more trivets

First ever confession here goes.
I confess that the first time I tried making spawn I inoculated mushy whole brown rice in a 6qt tub I used as an SAB and later planned to use as a shoebox. Worse was that the grain jars came straight out being sterilized and was so hot that I burned my hand trying to handle them and probably killed all the spores too.
