No. I have used baker couche's for wet dough and I used to have an old scientific oven that I could dial in temps and use wet towels at the bottom to keep humidity up.

Mmm bread and pizza. I need to get back into it. I use a stone and my oven set to 550. I still dream of building a brick oven.

I'm a sourdough guy and like to make a NY SD pizza and a white tall loaf like that one.

If you don't want to use a stone, you can build the pizza on a pan and put it directly on the bottom of a preheated oven. Not bottom rack, the bottom. This cooks the fuck out of the bottom of the pizza just like a stone or a wood fired oven would. Depending on your oven and the type of pan you're using, you'll only want to do this for 3-7 minutes.

You'll know it's ready to move when you can slide a spatula under it and it starts holding it's shape when you lift, it should be pretty stiff. You can also use this time to get a good look at the under side of the pizza to check if it needs a bit more time or if you're close to burning it. There is still cooking to be done, so don't let it get too dark, unless you're into that.

Once the bottom is nice and light brown, move it to center rack and cook it until you're happy with it. It might also be finished, so use your best judgement, it's your pizza.

I've made dozens of pizzas like this over the last few years and there's no going back. It's a lot like growing mushrooms: You find the teks that work for you and just keep at it.

I will say that my neigbor built a brick oven out his back porch and that thing is  :money:

It is only implementation of ideas by people that actually changes things, not the ideas themselves. I understand the need to show people a better way but those lessons are lost on those who are confronted with those ideas rather than led to them.

Support and enhance, don't manipulate. Don't put spores on grain directly if you want reliable fruits.

Wow that’s a lotta years. Lol my whole life basically.

Congratulations man!

I went to a 70th anniversary one time and just sat there thinking about how long that actually is, and that they had been together everyday the whole time. Went down a stoned rabbit hole.

Crazy stuff to really think about, especially when you’re young.

I've reached a noob plateau, and I'm wondering where to from here?

Thanks to the decades of work and research contributors here, in just a few months of intense study and practice, I can bash out consistent, clean tubs of shrooms. I've learnt the process and basic biology of growing fungi.

Shroomery made this whole thing very attainable. I was initially frustrated by the diversity of thought, a lot of the unsubstantiated lore, but over the months it actually helped me get a better understanding of the process and options.

What do you do for fun in this hobby once you've got the fundamentals down? Collect varieties? Move into gourmet? Grow freaks?

Any thoughts or advice appreciated.

I confess, I took a long 8 month break and came back to the worst contamination problem I've ever had. After a couple months of looking at all sources, I think it comes to my prints. I believe I stored stored poorly and/or introduced a contam right before the break that took the time off as an opportunity to run wild in all my favorite prints.

Probably gonna have to toss a majority of my prints. It's a sad day :nojustno:

Cleaning up contaminated cultures can be fun. Finding wild stuff and taming it on agar can be really fun too. Goes right along with the first bit about cleaning up cultures.

Got the green light from momma, but still debating in my head if this is gonna be a great day or if I'll be making it unnecessarily difficult lol

I forgot to turn my AA75X last night. Ran an extra 12hr and I could smell burnt wheat. Shut it off and dropped the pressure to 0, popped the vent, and the lid is stuck.:eek:The metal is still hot, so letting cool further. Hoping I didn't ruin it.:frown:

Popped it open with s bamboo spatula and a fine touch. Gotta use the vaseline more.

Our Father who art in heaven,

I confess I'm at a point in my cultivation career where I feel like I'm back to knowing almost nothing.

Been thinking about this graphic a lot recently:

8 months ago I was probably at the peak of Mount Stupid. Had a number of successful tubs, decent weight coming out, seemed like things were only going up from there on but oh how little I knew then.

Fast forward to today I feel like I'm just starting to crawl out of that low point. Past several months I was able to keep putting out decent tubs relatively consistently but battling mold, lackluster yields, and non optimal growth really put me in my place.

It's really not hard to grow cubensis but what I've come to get through my thick skull is how diligent one has to be to grow at a top level consistently.

So that's where I'm at now. I'm reevaluating everything, from basic ass shit like my field capacity, to my grain prep, to my tub conditions and so on and so forth.

It's a little rough letting go of that ego and misplaced confidence after you've achieved some initial success--but if there's anything I've learned it's that there's so much more for me to master and that I really need to keep my mind open to all the different possibilities and variables that affect success in cultivation.
