I confess I don't want to dump the Perlite outta the bottom of my tub that had some Apes going cake style. Must be a cheap bastard! Prolly not worth saving a few pennies...
And...next Shoebox run, I'm putting Perlite in the bottom of the tub where I keep a couple Shoeboxes.
It really gets me a hydratin!
Edit: I just dumped it on a screen out in the hot sun... it looks pretty re-usable, even if it's only like 25 cents worth!

From what I've heard people will boil perlite and other such materials to kill all algae and bacteria and to clean it up.

I confess that I just rinse it with a little bleach and water, then rinse it until the bleach smell is not noticeable and then let it dry to evaporate out any remaining sodium hypochlorite and then reuse. I'm a cheap bastard and try to get the most use for my money or maybe I'm just being thrifty, it depends on whom you ask. Edit: I use a 10:1 mix of water to bleach. That's plenty strong enough.

These are from 2014 but did end up eating right through the side of the aluminum. Still worth it though.

"EARLY Spring Spore Appreciation Confession"
I confess I just put 100 spore prints to water and sprayed my manure pile outside. Cubes are boring and I don't care if anything fruits.
I fucked up and my tent is set to "cold" for shiitake and king oyster, but I really need to get my pan cyans in there and flip the tent to "hot". I confess I suck at logistics.

That’s worked before, another guy did it with atl7 a couple years ago and now there’s established colonies in his parks and stuff.
Did you just drop the prints into a jug and shake it up or scrape them all off?

Scraping would be insane! I'm all about path of least resistance. It was a large food prep container. I just dropped my prints in and rubbed them with my hand into the water.
My climate is suitable for cubes for maybe a month or 2. Spent subs pop up for a bit in summer but we are arid and high elevation.
Here's another batch of spore water I just made from 50 prints. Old old old prints from the newbie days. Pretty funny seeing the progress just in prints.

Build it man.
With hoods I was always like man that would be nice....whatever. Then when I got one it totally blew my mind. They’re just such a game changer in ways that are hard to appreciate until you try one.
If it was me I’d let the parts sit in the garage for another 10 months before I got around to building it
So get at it.

True confession I am sickly obsessed with charcoal plates. It's really an unhealthy obsession. I stared into that dark abyss for way too long. I was also really fucked so that may have added to it.
My tomato and pepper plants are also doing insane in composted cube substrates, mixed with peat and perilite with cheap pelletized organic nutrients. I'm getting an amazing amount of growth. I harvested around 3 lbs of leafy greens, a lb of sugar snap peas, a couple celery sprigs, and a bunch of herbs all off of composted myc, coir, straw, and hwfp. It was a great lunch.

Hey Folks I have been off the Shroomery for months! I confess the last security / hack issue sorta wigged me out. I have been anxious about logging on ever since!
I guess if I were really worried, I should have deleted my account or all of my cultivation posts!
I've been busy with non cultivating stuff too. I think when I get back to it, I'll get over my nerves and get back on here more regularly.
Thanks for your confessions and keeping the thread alive. Psilo

Nothing in my manure pile except "weed" mushrooms. My past 5 months of projects all triched out. Agar, grain, bulks, gourmet cultures that I had dried out. Pulling my hair out trying to find out what happened. Maybe tossing a hundred prints or so was dumb...
