My favorite part of cult is harvesting. All the time waiting for the pressure cooker to finish and the jars to colonize is gone. Harvest time means prolonging the hobby with prints and clones and getting better each time. Having had a lifetime full of abandoned projects and shit laying around that probably will never work again it's nice to find something I enjoy that I keep coming back to.

The part I dislike the most is probably cleaning or finding hidden contamination. A sick part of me likes the contamination though, it's a true testament to how well adapted and efficient some of these molds and bacteria can be. It's also a nice reminder that I'm not perfect and I can fuck up

I confess I am thinking about quitting this grow prematurely just like 80% of the grow before it. I think I’m addicted to it. I’ve been hiding it from my wife and feel crummy about it. I only have 3 grain jars colonizing. 2 may have stalled out for some reason and one is ready to spawn. I just don’t know if it’s worth the risk anymore until I can it legally because there are a few people who know I’ve grown in the past. Nobody knows I’m growing this time, but I don’t know whether to listen to my gut and pitch it or get it out of my system with a shoebox then grow edibles or something. Mush cult has been such a positive experience for me and I can’t let it go. Part of me enjoys being all sly and hiding it from my wife, but the other part knows there is too much on the line. Any advice is welcome

Yeah that's a tough call Adrenochrome. I suppose it comes down to how firmly she opposes it and all that. Is it worth losing a marriage over? Would it come to that if she found out? Is there a conversation to be had about it where you can express your feelings about why its important? It would be hard for me to give this up permanently so I know its not as easy as all that but there are certain aspects of this that we can't get away from yet and can have devastating real world consequences. You may be on the right line of thinking of starting some gourmets to use as cover so to speak but I can only imagine that if she is not in on it she will eventually find out one way or another so I guess it comes down to what her reaction would be about the deception.

She has already given me an ultimatum on several occasions between mush cult and my family, threatening to take the kids and move or kick me out. She has already blabbed to other members of my family to justify her suicide attempt, claiming that my repeatedly defying her requests and going behind her back had contributed to her depression. I have shared with her every positive experience that using these medicines can have and showed her all the research being done on said benefits. Eventually, unless I budge, we will divorce. I cannot imagine her having a repentant heart unless she tries them for herself, but I know for sure I’d be behind bars if I dosed her unawares 🤣
She even put me on a 5 year “probationary” period from gourmets, to avoid the potential for temptation

That sounds pretty extreme and I know it's not what you want to hear but from your description of the situation it sounds like her finding out could result in you behind bars. I am not a legal or medical or therapeutic professional in any way and don't want to give advice, only trying to give you my perspective. That sounds like a very steep and very slippery slope. 1 phone call in a moment of anger and your life could be devastated. Even if it is only a moment of anger and opinions changed later, the damage would already be done and it could be massive. Things can get really tricky when spouses and children are involved and unfortunately people who do what we do will always be at a disadvantage simply due to the legality. One phone call and its all over.

Again I don't want to give relationship advice or tell you how to handle your life's situation, just a thought here....
Maybe clean up everything, make damn sure there is nothing at all that can cause legal troubles and start gourmets openly. Gauge her reaction to violating your probation and take a stand with the legal route. If she still is threatening to leave then maybe there are bigger/deeper issues to address, and maybe addressing those can lead to a better mutual understanding later on and it could be safe to restart cubes then. This approach could also exacerbate things though and make it all worse. Just speculation of how to approach it without putting yourself in a legally precarious situation.

I'm also addicted to cult. That's too bad your significant other is so opposed to it. I asked my wife if it was cool before I started and she said, "Why would you ask? It's not like you're asking me if you can make meth."

I just completely forgot I had my PC heating up outside. Vented for about 10 minutes longer than it should. Really hoping I don't run it out of water.

Adrenochrome that really sucks. Some women be insufferable, you have my sympathy. I agree mush cult may not be the most wise activity at the minute... this is probably not what you want to hear but have you considered something like homebrewing beer/wine/cider/mead as a hobby instead? Not just from a kit, but mashing grains and making your own recipes etc. It's very fun and legal in most places. You obviously have a lot of enthusiasm to put into something, but that's no good if you're in jail.

Makes me appreciate my wife more,  hearing your troubles.  She just thinks its the best thing ever for me.  Wishing you some resolution in that regard.  Homebrewing was a great suggestion btw.  Or any hobby.  Don't let that good mind go to waste.  Lots of fun to be had in the world,  for sure.
