Abstract
INTRODUCTION:
Salvia, an important and widely available member of Lamiaceae family. Although comparative analysis on secondary metabolites in several Salvia species from Turkey has been reported, their hallucinogenic chemicals have not been screened thoroughly.

OBJECTIVE:
This study provides LC-MS/MS analysis of 40 Salvia species for screening their psychoactive constituents of salvinorin A and salvinorin B. 5S-rRNA gene non-coding region of Salvia plants was sequenced, aligned and compared with that sequence of Salvia divinorum plant.

METHODOLOGY:
Targeted molecules of salvinorin A and salvinorin B were quantified, using LC-MS/MS, from all aerial parts of 40 Salvia species, collected from different parts of Turkey. Regions of 5S-rRNA gene from different species were amplified by polymerase chain reaction and DNA sequences were aligned with Salvia divinorum DNA sequences.

RESULTS:
Very few of the Salvia species (S. recognita, S. cryptantha and S. glutinosa) contained relatively high levels of salvinorin A (212.86 ± 20.46 μg/g, 51.50 ± 4.95 μg/g and 38.92 ± 3.74 μg/g, respectively). Salvinorin B was also found in Salvia species of S. potentillifolia, S. adenocaulon and S. cryptantha as 2351.99 ± 232.22 μg/g, 768.78 ± 75.90 μg/g and 402.24 ± 39.71 μg/g, respectively. The sequences of 5S-rRNA gene of 40 different Salvia species were presented and it was found that none of the Salvia species in Turkey had similar DNA sequence to Salvia divinorum plant.

CONCLUSION:
This is the first report of screening 40 Salvia species in Turkey according to their psychoactive constituents, salvinorin A and salvinorin B and their genomic structures. It is possible that some of these Salvia species may exhibit some psycho activity. Thus, they need to be screened further. Copyright © 2017 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Awesome thread guys! Interesting to see that Salvinorin is active elsewhere, i agree it baffeled me that only S. Divinorum was active when there is so many different varities of the Salvia species

This thread is incredibly old, but I will add that I have tried smoking Salvia Greggii and it is indeed active, and rather pleasant (in that plain leaf Salvia D. sort of way).

Report from 2 cones of plain leaf smoked (bic lighter):
A relatively heavy 'savlia stoning'. I felt nausea about 5-10 minutes in, and headed to the toilet. Once there, I realised the nausea was from some sort of motion sickness from standing; once seated, with my eyes closed, the nausea dissipated. I found standing unenjoyable through the whole experience- sitting and not moving the head too much was by far the way to go.
I felt dissociated, but mildly in a hard to pinpoint way (again, like plain leaf S.D.), and my visual 'noise' increased (i could see visual 'static' more, but also felt my vision of faces and the likes to be sharper). I lay in bed 15-30 minutes after the second bowl, and in the darkness found I was getting mild closed-eye visuals: dissociative type geometry, cubic type things with rounded edges moving slowly, almost like hypnagogia you get when right on the verge of sleep. Not intense visuals relative to psyches, but notably different from sobriety nonetheless. Music sounded richer and deeper, Tool was enjoyable. My narrative self was much less present, and I found I could sit back in my mind and perceive vast concepts without myself being embedded in them, such as the trajectory of time and the vastness of space. This lasted around 30 minutes.

This was not more intense than LSD, mushrooms, DMT, salvia extract, and so on. But it was by far stronger than plain leaf salvia, and lasted over an hour. An intriguing alternative to cannabis, for those who enjoy the salvia stone.

I have procured my own S. Greggii plant to continue to experiment, as well as an S. Mycrophilia.

As long as you're sure it's safe to consume, you can do a quid wet or dry the material and smoke it as is or as a concentrated extract. A quid is basically chewing on the material. I've never actually done it myself so you'd have to look up the procedure, you may or may not have to use something with it to make it work properly. Quidding is supposed to be more gentle but longer lasting
