A savings account. I need a debit card man. Any tips/advice? Or do I just walk in there like a badass with $125, slam it on the table, and tell him to suck my dick and open me up an account?

When you go to sleep turn the light off. It's as simple as that.

Look for banks that have no monthly or yearly fees for checking/savings accounts, and that there is no penalty for having an account with no money in it.

Are you trying to have it anonymous or with govt id, all, sars, CTRs, etc.?
You can open them online with no teller involved. They mail you a card. The interest rate is good. If you add no fee checking, you can deposit checks with your smartphone. I have tried a few of these. They are great.
Nerdwallet lists ally, Barclays, capital one, and discover. I don't remember which one bought ing.

I was going to say this
I have used Oregon community credit union all my life and been happy.
I had a debit card for awhile but after reporting a few small mystery withdrawals they refunded me and canceled the card. I just applied for a credit card onlime though and will go in for a debit if that doesn't work.

It's like a bank, except you make money from its business because you're an owner - and they pay an interest rate that doesn't mean you're losing money constantly.
Right now the interest rate at OCCU is around 2%
Right now the interest rate at bank of america is ~.01%

I have been with OCCU for years and they have never done me wrong
My only complaint is they limit the amount of online transactions you can do each month, it is a lot still but I have maxed out before and overdrawn my account
That is really my fault though and you can always walk into a bank and have them do the transfer for you if you really need to.
I remember being a kid and going to withdraw money from my account which my grandma opened with me and they would have cookies and coffee sitting out
Use to go snag choco cookies from them all the time

this.
those fees will getcha.
That being said, wouldn't you want to have a checking account too so that you can take and deposit withdrawals/deposits from there and then have like 10% or so automatically routed to your savings?

I have Wells Fargo and IDK why everybody hates them. They have some of the best customer service I have ever experienced. Whenever I have any issues I'm just like, "Yo I have a PMA." And they like, "Ermagawd do you need a back rub?"

Uhhhh.....aside from the fact that they knowingly and intentionally victimized thousands of their customers by using their names to create fraudulent accounts wherein fraudulent transactions took place??

Ya out here in michigan there are banks everywhere. Chase, pnc, bank of america, Comerica, Huntington; pretty much all you need is atleast 50 dollars to open an account at any of these. I have never heard of monthly fees and all the bullshit, sure if you overdraw there is usually a fee, but besides that? I make money because intrest, its not alot but its something.
To kushzombie, just look around at some mainstream banks, see what they have to offer, credit unions you get more intrest on your money which is kool.
Credit union is basically everyones money the have deposited. Versus a bank where it works much diffently. I could be wrong but its along those lines.
