Huskies's Grow Log * 1
    #23948689 - 12/22/16 10:21 AM (7 years, 1 month ago)

Finally got agar tubs going strong (for the most part), so I decided to do a little Log, fill it with pretty pictures and have a place where I can get direct advice and still give some.

So here is where I am currently, I have been experimenting fruiting at spawn and it has sped up the process nicely, especially with soaking the grains beforehand (tub 1)

The strain for all of these was a mystery syringe I got from a friend who had no clue what it was. I did MS to jars, took some kernels, made agars from those and have developed the strain since. I have named it Husky (mush! Mush!) just for fun :tongue2:

:mushroom2:Tub 1 was mostly ready for harvest this morning

A lot of those pins seem viable, so I don't want to do a heavy dunk and get them waterlogged. Should I just keep it as is, or a heavy misting?

 Tub 2: I need to absorb some of those metabolites up. I've been doing LI with too much liquid to compensate for my blenderless technique, which I am about to change up because I think the extra content has made it somewhat bacterial. But adorable baby clusters so I'm good.

:frown: Tub 3: My friend did this one, forgot one of the jars until after mixing all of it, so he tried but left a lot of exposed grains. I haven't have trich yet since starting back up, but I'm worried about this tub. Sucks as well, cause it was my first clone tub. What are your thoughs?

Thanks guys! I really do love my shroombabies. Gonna even start replacing my alcohol intake with some casual tea sippage at appropriate parties and such, I'm a much better tripper than a drunk.

Could you guys please give me some notes on my questions for tubs 1 and 3? Basically, should I heavily mist it, and is tub 3 looking contaminated?

Tub 2 looks like it's getting a little dry with all that mild bruising, mist away. But don't over mist. (make sure it dries completely before another misting).
And tub 3 has some weaker looking mycelium in areas but it's fine, no contams.

Tub 1 looks like an intelligent bipedal large mammal came in and just cut down tons of mushrooms with some sort of sharp tool, like a miniature fungi lumberjack. Not much you can do about that one, it happens to the best of us.

Pre_chrimbus Update!

Heading out tomorrow, I know I'm going to come back to a nice surprise from my huskybabies.

Today, I reset my agars, taking samples from the ones that I still needed, cleaning up some MS swabs I did and etc! Feels nice to be back with virtually all new plates!

Yesterday I came across some really shitty WBS at the dollar store, so I decided fuck it, I'm gonna do a foohman's tek and see if my agar genetics can colonize it despite its cracked corn and oats mushyness. I used some leftover plates that were getting old and I had no use for, tiger dropped a plate in each quart ( I made 5). Hopefully these can be used as master grain jars, or even for a potentially shitty tub. Anyhow, wish me luck!

I finished harvesting tub 1, yesterday I got 2.5oz dry with 5 trays, today I got 3 trays. Almost close to my last tub, which had a smaller pinset but bigger fruits.

Do these pins look like they are going to abort? Or reach maturity?

Tub 2 is looking nice, a chrimbus miracle!

Tub 3, meh. Hopefully something good turns out. This is a clone tub, but I think I got some weak mycelium from the sample I got. The jars always look wispy. W/e, got rid of those plates today!

Re: Huskies's Grow Log [Re: Huskies]
    #23959913 - 12/27/16 07:35 AM (7 years, 1 month ago)

So during chrimbus I had to leave my tubs in a closet because family came over to pick me up. The two and a half days that they spent in a closed dresser seems to have really not been great for them and I hope it is salvageable :frown: Lesson learned I supposed. After taking them out I started running a fan aimed to the ceiling and misted all of them to give them a jumpstart.

Tub 1

Not much to say, still recovering from first flush. I gave it a heavy misting but not a full dunk, maybe I will only try dunking it after the second flush

Tub 2

It was looking so great but the closet seems to  have majorly screwed it over. Half of the pins seems to have been aborted? I really hope it's not the case, since everything was looking dope.

Tub 3

Only good news is that is isn't contaminated which I was iffy about. Pins started but they are growing weird and shittily, hopefully they can still bounce back.

Based on what you guys can see what is more likely:

1- I majorly or minorly screwed up all tubs and should expect lame results
2-This flush will be hurt but it will make up for it in the next flushes
3- This flush will bounce back now that daddy's home?

For some less depressing news, here are some agar plates that are looking spot on, and my crappy WBS jars have strong rhizo growth, way stronger than I seem to have been getting of soft wheat which has been my grain of choice for the past few months (due to convenience). I might by switiching to WBS.

Not much to say. Clear any aborts or stumps. Dunk if the sub feels light. Mist heavy if it's still got lots of water. It will do it's thing regardless. Just keep the conditions up.

In tub 2, did most of those pins abort or not? Seems to be. What a shame to take it all down :frown:

:frown: Good to know, I did one cleaning pass and I'll do another tomorrow. I also replaced the polyfill with micropore tape, double layered on the bottom ones. Hopefully flush 2 will be better.

Good news, my tubs are recovering, a bit slowly but such is life.

Tub 2 is the most photogenic currently, I'm also pretty sure that the tub 1 and tub 2, which came from the same isolate (although different plates) might be sporeless. I tried getting prints last time with no luck, and I see nothing dropping. I guess I better clone it just in case

The shittiest WBS I ever saw is doing quite well. Maybe it's micropore filter instead of polyfill or plastic lids slightly twisted, but growth looks strong and it seems my agar will overcome mushyness (wouldn't it be nice if we could train mycellium and make it stronger?). These jars were shaken yesterday, I think I'm going to use them as masters.

My agars are also looking adorable

This one was from a tiny shroom I picked but that was PURE DEEP BLUE when I opened it up, so I cloned it, although this sectoring shows that it's not an isolate. Fortunately, it seems obvious what to continue on. It's also the same genetics that are in the pink agar jar.

Pretty sure I did an open air swab on agar, with the clone above as well. Since I knew I'd be transferring it out, I decided to take my chances. This is after one transfer

Anyway, despite the setback, I'm feeling good about the near future.

So my mushrooms have started growing dickholes in one of my tubs. Is this a genetic quirk or a sign of that bacteria that does weird thing to mushroom tissue?

This clone sample is looking good, I might do two transfers from the leftmost and the rightmost sectors

That is bacteria. It's actually pretty minor in your case, I have seen whole tubs with the caps eaten completely. . .

So here's something interesting now that I've changed up my grains. I started back up again with rye berries, and then soft wheat because that was more convenient to get. I remembered having bad luck with WBS (when I was a noob) plus it was messy in comparison.

I just did WBS instead, this is the difference

Growth is much stronger on the WBS, which was a very crappy blend with cracked corn, oats and it got a bit mushy. I did Foohman's WBS tek with some coffee added to the boil water. THey seem to be loving it. The soft wheat was prepper according to RR's video.

The soft wheat that I got was food grade, but they always have looked weak and maybe bacterial. Anyway, just wanted to catalog what I have found to be a major improvement.

Today is Harvest day, so here are my major updates!

Tub 1- Second flush is coming in, I should have dunked it proper. The green is just a discoloration from the stems not mold I promise. I might try dunking it after these big guys grow out, see it still has something good to put out.

Tub 2 - It got contaminated with a bacteria thing that caused the dickholes/assholes, so I stopped misting it and it recovered perfectly. Gonna dunk this mofo.

Tub 3 - My first ever clone tub, it recovered quite well since this tub looked almost like a tosser at times.

Do these seriously look bad? It's been the strongest growth I've had yet, and even though I'm pretty sure my previous results where bacterial due to too much LI and soft wheat, I never got mold and I've been getting pretty good flushes.

Some of them have coffee grains in them, but they are colonizing (experiment based on old tek).

A lot of the wbs have sunflower seeds, some I didn't bother removing, since I know it's still fine. Unfortunately, the wbs I got also had peanuts, I started removing them after 2 batches, but even then they are colonizing, albeit slowly.

PS: Foohman's tek with added coffee to boil water, clean agar tiger drops to master jars then g2g.

So i finally have a tub of Amazon growing. I think it might be bacterial, but I'm bad at telling that. Anyhow, pins are coming in, not great coverage yes, so we'll see. It is from MS though. Hopefully I'll find a few worthy clones though.

This is a new tub I made with my old variety. I've been unhappy with my yields, I feel like I should be getting double the amount, but whatever. So I'm experimenting with a few things, 1-better coir, a few tubs were too uncolonized for my liking 2- shorter substrates, this was a half brick and 3 jars instead of the usual six and full brick 3-gypsum

I packed this one pretty tight, and put a good 1/4 inch of the leftover CVG on top. Maybe I packed it too much, how light should it all be? Anyway, it's been five days now, I'm sure something will turn out.

I've also reduced the nutes in my agar recipe, and I think it's getting faster growth and more rhizo growth so that's nice. Bad things have been hiding in fluffy myc.

And just for fun, an old plate with a bunch of tiny pins. I was thinking of cloning a nice one, but the've been this size for a while now

So my first tub of MS (on agar) Amazon is interesting so far, lot's of mutants, lots of small fruits. I felt like the caps opened up way to quickly (you can see some tiny ones that are opening already). I'm hoping they will grow a bit more, but maybe it's time to pick. Thoughts?
