Do these trays look ready to fruit?
    #23946451 - 12/21/16 03:44 PM (7 years, 2 months ago)

Quick question for some expert eyes. This is my first foray into trays from BRF cakes. I used the following:

Spawn = B+ cubes, 9 colonized ½ pint BRF cakes (4-fresh, 2-one flush old, 2– two flushes old, 1- three flushes old)

Substrate = 56% HPoo, 23% Coir, 10% verm, 5.5% Coffee Grounds, 5.5% Gypsum

Ratio roughly 1:3 spawn/substrate. Trays are 6.5x 8 inches (3inch deep) in 7 alternating layers (sub on top and bottom layer) with cakes crumbled. No casing.

They have been colonizing for 10 days now. Based on the pics and info do the look ready to go into the fruiting chamber? Thanks, new at this.

You can wait for someone else to answer but I'd let that go until 100% colonized as in, a sea of white then introduce to fruiting conditions or case and introduce. Up to you. Good luck.

When people refer to % colonization of a tray I assume this means % of the top layer that is showing mycelium growth? If so these look like 15-20% or so I guess?

I'd say 5, 10, and 15% respectfully for those trays.
