Found a local mill that cuts untreated wood. Downside is that it is pine and Douglas fir. I haven't been there yet but I'd say more pine than Douglas.
Anyone have experience with pine dust?

I have some experience using pine. Some species-strains do not care about the inhibitory resins. My best experience was to remove all the resins, oils and amber via water saturation.
Keep doing so until the waste water is clear, when clean enriched it.

I thought be was poor with them. I'd be doing bags with them.

BE would be terrible if it where inhibited all the time. RR got good BE from aged pine. Just soak the pine in a lime water bath like straw to breakdown the resins.
I would test samples before making bags, saves time and effort.

I recall reading several posts where RR mentions using straight Douglas fir for his shiitake sub.

I use straight Douglas fur right now fine.
From the mill I can be getting straight pine or straight Douglas fur. I'd assume it would be hard to tell the difference is dust grade sawdust.
So I plan to soak it in a pillow case with wood ash over night.
I'm hounding cabinet companies right now for hardwood

I've also used pine before. We let it sit out for a few weeks in the sun until the turpentine smell was gone. Did a big batch of reishi with no provlems.
Do you not have wood pellets in your area?

I use Douglas fir. We don't have hardwood pellets besides those expensive grill ones.
I'm using Douglas fir just fine.
One I'm looking for hardwood options. Two I'm looking for a free source.
Only place that I got a hold of so far does pine. I'm calling the local cabinet stores daily trying to get a hold of someone

Have you checked with local tree trimming companies? Is there any nut or fruit production in your area?

My best bet here is the custom cabinet companies.
I've checked the local tree dump, and tree services. You smell the pine from the mulch there. Only hardwood I've seen here is man planted.
Cabinet companies and flooring companies get their wood from out of state here for hardwood.

I have a spruce tree in my back yard that grew a single lions mane @20 ft up.I can see the myc has colonized sap anywhere the tree has been scarred or is leaking sap.It really looks like that is the main food source. The tree looks as though senescence is setting in.

@ pinpapa, lions mane is typically found on soft wood.
Feather I have a decent feeling about these cabinet companies. They won't return calls or pick-up. I'm having a friend go on my behalf while I'm at work.

Just really got softwood here. A lot of the cabinet compines have mixed treated and non treated sawdust and don't separate.
