I'm cautiously optimistic. All the plates I inoculated with that syringe were clean.

Did you use 3cc of solution to start the LC?

I really doubt there will be a next time. I've got tons of clean plates and a bunch of new LCs from wedges colonising. Not that I really need that much MS APE inoculant.
I picked up 50lbs of rye on Saturday and it's almoste gone. I have a feeling I'm going to be kicking myself when I have to harvest 20 APE monos all at once.

Dude I'm so sick of APE and I still have a quart of LC in the fridge. Probably dump it out cause I don't think I'm gonna grow ape for a while. I still got 6 quarts of it I need to spawn.

So I was here last week asking about my jars that were taking so long (end of page 150 to beginning of 153). All but 2 of the 12 are fully colonized, and those 2 are at 85% and 95% respectively. Some have been consolidating at this point. On page 53, after I shook them I smelled them and they didn't smell very good. At that point I admitted failure. But the strange tek I used called for a small layer of verm at the bottom and when I shook them, it went all over the inside of the jar. I'm pretty sure that that was what I smelled. A further week later and they smell pretty healthy. I want to spawn 6 first and then the other 6 once the final 2 are done. I knocked up 15 total and separated 3 that had some yellow areas. Wondering if this is just metabolites? I wanted to spawn these 3 separate and see if they would do anything. I plan on following FrankHorrigan's step by step prep for sub using coir and verm all the way to the fruiting stage. I'm going to start doing agar work once I have some more time and $.
Any thoughts?

Everyone may be nervous at first then you get to thinking "what am I out if I screw up?" only 5 cents a plate and one drop of spores

That's a great way to look at it.

Agreed people put insane pressure on themselves on whats just a bit of agar a bit of spores and a plate. Its insane how people have this fear of agar

So from what I've gathered the fastest way for me to cultivate mushrooms based on the equipment that I already have is as follows:
1) Make soft agar as outlined here (https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/23188000)
2) The third agar plate you transfer to should utilize a nutrient-rich recipe like cornmeal (https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/22252599) or grain water (https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/22090249)
3) Prepare WBS on the dryer side using liloldme's WBS tek (https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/23190098). Apparently being on the dryer side is better if you're going to do liquid inoculation. Will be doing several half pints. Half pint grain + liquid inoculation = fast colonization
4) Make a liquid inoculate from agar doing the blenderless LI tek (https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/22833314#22833314) and pour in some of my spawn jars.
5) In about a week the half pints should be fully colonized.
6) Prepare substrate (coir/verm/gypsum) using Frank's pasteurization tek (https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/17246844)
7) I will throw 4 of the half pints (4 * 1/2 pints = 1 quart of spawn) in a blender along with a pint of sterile water similarly to what's done here (slurry type 4 trial run 2) (https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/10648149)
And hope for the best...

Does anyone have any idea why my grain jars are colonizing so slowly? a year ago I used a culture to make a LC and it colonized jars in 4 days flat(seriously it was amazing). I took a clone of one of the biggest fruits and kept it on a plate and recently used that plate to make another LC. The jars take 3 weeks to colonize and usually bacteria start to set in by that time. I don't know what I'm doing different or if it is simply that the culture has senescence. I can't spawn a monotub anymore that doesn't go completely fucked with bacteria because all my spawn is bacterial due to the super slow colonisation. I've spawned a dozen monos and harvested less than a pound. I need some pointers.

If your jars have bacteria after three weeks you have bigger problems
