Help! What to do with cakes full of pinning once removed from jars
    #23943961 - 12/20/16 04:35 PM (7 years, 2 months ago)

I just removed my cakes from the jars to dunk & roll, but ran into trouble because I had so much growth and pinning it was really difficult to get them out of the jars. They're really compressed from being in the jars and I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do with them or if they're going to be viable? Also, one of the cakes that had a ton of growth on it broke in half all together trying to get it out of the jar, so should I just dispose of that one?

It's fine if they pin in the jar, the fruits will still be good, the pins may have some issues growing further but they are fine to dehydrate and save.
Treat the cakes as usual, I would typically just sprinkle verm on the areas without pins and fruit the cakes like nothing happened.
But you can just treat them as normal if you don't mind getting verm on the pins. (dunk, roll, etc) pins will survive a dunk no problem.

Not a big deal bro, all looking good.

Yeah even partial pieces will fruit just fine, though it could take a little longer.

The big ones that look bigger than pins? Should I just pick those now before I roll them in verm? They look all smooshed from being in the jars.

Also the black on the stems...is that contaminated or are they okay to dehydrate?

Sorry this is my first time growing so I'm kinda figuring things out as I go! Thanks for your help.

They are just discolored from stress, anything bigger than a pin you can just pick off now then continue as normal.
A small early harvest. :awesomenod:
