Whats up shroomery! This is my first go at agar. Wanted to see if guys think this myc is clean and good to go? Kinda seems a little weak and not so ryzo. Started off cottony now its stretching out and changing up a bit. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Mite be salvageable,
It kind of looks like some rhyso growth at like 6:30, so if you can take a little piece of it and go to a new plate...
Post back what you got..

Nah I dont got any more petris going as of right now. This petri is actually a transfer from a previous dish I knocked up with a costa rica spore print i made. Since im new to this I didnt wanna knock up more petris and mess em up. Wanted to give it a little test run. But ill transfer that 6:30 part and see where that goes.

With agar you should play the numbers and do a few at a time.

Cool will do guys. Thanks for the info. Does leaving the dishes in the still airbox matter?

The point is not to avoid wasting agar, but to get as many plates going at a time to cherry-pick the best growth. I do sets of 5 usually, and thats using 3 or 4 section dishes
Your agar may be a little too nutritious too which could cause slow, dense growth. I've seen that type of growth a lot actually

Alright so im getting a little hopefull, now i know to do multiple dishes at a time just in case one dont take off properly. Ima keep it around and see what it does. Probly dumb of me to keep it in my still airbox where i work. Would that affect it in anyway?

What's yr media recipe? I've tried 2 different ones so far and the more recent one produced growth that looks identical to yours. I haven't tossed it into a jar of grain yet so I don't know what will become of it, but anyway, it was a very basic malt extract recipe. In the past I used YPD media and I got some very bizarre growth. I think the media was far too rich.

Try a 3% concentration of what you're doing to allow the myc to stretch out and look for nutrients, this allows a tendency on the myc to focus more on rhizmorphic growth rather than tomentose. Tomentose usually is a response to the rich nutrient medium and the mycelium will be trying to cover a greater surface area thus sprouting fluff and hairs.
These are my 2nd transfer plates on a 3% concentrate of wheetabix

And they came from a 50% concentrate of CFA which looked like this, I too thought it was just mold and stupidly threw a couple away before realizing I had good myc

Take my info with a pinch of salt though, I am not sure how to tell mold from clean myc. All I experienced so far on agar was bacteria and gray mold

Lol not even pan myc. That shit just looks wrong AF. Especially the top right areas. Maybe try a different nutrients ratio and see? I'd be interested to see if this is cube lol
