Manure substrate
    #23943765 - 12/20/16 03:19 PM (7 years, 1 month ago)

I have been reading up on horse manure substrate and how to prepare it for a monotub but can I apply layers in the monotub for example if I had 6 quart rye grain jars and 10 pounds of horse manure could I do a layer of manure then 3 of the jars then another layer of manure then the rest of the jars and then a casing layer ?

My understanding is that a casing goes on a colonized substrate.

wouldn't the casing layer be colonized while the substrate is also being colonized? Because the substrate won't be colonized until I introduce it to colonized rye grain

layering is old. mixing it up is better. just make sure to mix it up really good.
let colonize. cubes dont need a casing. unless you are doing penis

Those don't need to be cased either.
