I have a fairly large grow tent inside a spare 8x10 bedroom. Im a little concerned about the spores that drop from all the shiitakes and oysters. And im wondering if it effecting the air quality in my house. Would an air purifier help? if so, any recommendations?

My humble recommendation would be to make sure whatever outlet filter you use can be cleaned.

Yes it would help some, I use a prefilter on a hepa filter than can be washed ever 2 weeks with a washer and dryer. If you're really concerned have air sucking out of the bedroom window to create a negative pressure in the room, i think that would work.

If the only air thats exiting the room is the air intake in the furnace it should be fairly simple to rig up some kind a pre-filter to the vent.

You want to create negative presuure on the chamber. Have a blower sucking from inside the chamber and out a dryer duct or window. Also a room hepa filter outsude the chamber would help scrub any residual spores, you would only really need to run that wjen your in the room. A flowhood does the same.

Are you saying one ongoing vent from intake to outtake with like return vents in it?

Vent that shit outside your house! The spore load from oysters is MASSIVE and will negatively impact the air quality of your house and can cause a slew of respiratory maladies and even lung cancer. This is spore buildup in my exhaust fan after 1 month in a 5'x5'x6' grow space and growing very little. Don't rely on a filter.

Dude, do not grow oysters in you bedroom:( RR almost died from this same thing, growing oysters in his bedroom. The story is on the forum here somewhere but he went into anaphylactic shock and was hospitalized. And he couldn't really grow or go near fruiting oysters again. Over exposure will also make you allergic in time, I became allergic just from not using a mask at first and not having my exhaust properly dialed in for a period of time. Be careful, it's called mushroom pickers lung and the symptoms range from fevers to serious trouble breathing, it's no fun.

Yes almost all mushrooms spores in high doses causes the sicknesses. Oysters are worst followed by portabella flatten all the way out left to spore is second in my book. A one foot by two foot tray of Agaricus bisporus cause a 10 by 15 tent to be covered 100 with its spores coulded see in the tent without going into.

Shiitake have a low sporeload, especially if your picking early. That coupled with a well sealed grow and a small exhaust vent going out a window would maintain control on the spores. Have you seen my small shelving grow i used to have?

I have seen that video yes... right now I have a shelving unit inside a grow tent for plants. I can run a vent out the window but that is really gonna make things COLD. January and febuary will be in the negatives outside especially at night. that small opening for a vent will let a lot of cold air in.
But I gotta do something. I have a shop fan that I can rig up and have it vent air through flexible vent tubing out the window on a timer... Hopefully that will take care of FAE too... and then I could just have an air purifier running in the room itself.
