Hey folks, I was noticing that some people wrap saran or parafilm around the plastic lids on their spawn jars. Just wondering if this is a standard practice for people?

Not standard practice...if you have a proper filtration method alreadt installed in your lids, saran wrap will be detrimental to the GE necessary for colonization..

I guess what I'm thinking is that contams could be drawn under the edge of the plastic lid...Like with plates. That would allow contams under the filter disc.

I guess if you wanted to take the extra measure but I would say it is unnecessary on grain jars...necessary on petri dishes...but if it helps you sleep at night I suppose as long as the filter hole remains open you could do it...

Some of my plastic lids don't always seem to fit perfectly... Depending on the brand of jar/lid combo..amount of times cycled in the PC. Can't hurt. IDK.

Doesn't hurt to add that if you think you need it for temperature changes.
