Panellus Stipticus possible contamination?
    #23942764 - 12/20/16 09:05 AM (7 years, 1 month ago)

Hello,

This is my first time posting as well as first time grower, I`ve been trying to grow Panellus Stipticus that I bought on Amazon, I injected the spores into two pots on the 23rd of November and the mycelium has taken an extremely long time to grow, I've not seen any glowing at all and now I'm starting to see a brown growth on my mycellium which I'm guessing is a contamination, can anyone cofirm my suspicion?

Thank you,

I'd say the last pic is some nasty mold. I'd toss, especially since it's taking so long. I'd bet there's some bacteria in there. If these spores came from a wild specimen it needs to be inoculated on agar and cleaned up.

Also the fruit bodies will glow more than the myc. Sometimes the myc doesn't even glow

Hello,

Thank you for your reply, I have thrown them in the bin now and will buy from the same company but I will make sure I'm more careful next time.

Thanks again.
