hy there
actually all Ganoderma species are not edible in the sense of not being edible mushrooms as we know such as shitake or champignon etc...
Ganoderma oregonense is like Ganoderma lucidum a medicinal fungus. making a tea for your vital functions is great...go on
cheers

I did this a bit with some I picked out from a creek park. Could have been artist's conk though.
I got weird lower back pains for 3 or so hours after I drank the tea. Did it again to the same effect.
I stopped after that.

Just cut off the white growing edge and fry it up in a pan with butter. Mmmmm... edible and medicinal! And the mushroom will usually resume growth.
TBH I've never tried this, but it's been done and said to be pretty good.
Definitely the fully grown varnished fruit body is WAAAAAY too tough to be edible. Even if it weren't, it tastes like shit anyway. Well, like medicine really... (bitter!)

Ganoderma in my area (temperate rainforest), always taste slightly salty.
I used to make honey tea with them, but nowadays I use miso and ganoderma in a savory soup. Tastes great and feels good. (cept my kidneys haha)

I make a soup broth from dried ganoderma. Throw in some oyster stems, onions, carrots, celery and chicken stock. Strain off and drink hot.
