Amazing Shroom Experience (tripped alone)
    #23940947 - 12/19/16 05:30 PM (7 years, 2 months ago)

hi all! I recently took an 8th of cubes alone, and I had an amazing time. I highly recommend people who want to have a very intimate, personal experience with shrooms, to take them alone. While on shrooms, I noticed that I felt like objects had meanings. Things I normally wouldn't believe had any meaning, such as my loofa or a simple box of my lush bombs, I felt so grateful that they were in my life. It sounds stupid, but that's exactly how I felt. For example, when opening my box of lush bath bombs, I thanked it for allowing me to experience a bath bomb. And while in the bath, I was so grateful for the lush bath bomb. I would talk to it, and thank it for it's wondrous colors and allowing me to experience it. I felt as though all objects had a meaning and a purpose. The objects such as my shower, face wash, etc. were supplying me with stuff that I needed, and in return I felt like I had to repay the favor by thanking it. I'm just wondering if anyone ever experienced this feeling? In addition, I have read a lot about "bad trips," and I don't mean to sound ignorant, but I don't understand how a bad trip could happen. I cannot image ever having one! The experience was just all too amazing. I suppose if you're surrounding with shady people that could happen. Having said that, I HIGHLY recommend people to trip by themselves. You have the freedom to reflect on your life, and make internal discoveries. You also can do anything you want. My favorite parts were being in the bath, painting, and laying on my bed in the dark and just watching the cool colors that would arise on my ceiling. I've tripped with other people before, and I just find that it's too distracting, and I feel like I have to "focus" on what's happening around me and talking to people, rather than being present in the moment. Although, at then end of my trip when I was done making my personal discoveries, I wished I had one or two people shrooming with me, that way we can discuss and break out into laughter. I would say if you want to have "fun" on shrooms, it's nice to do them with one or two people, but for more personal experiences, definitely try it alone. Overall my question is: did you guys feel a similar experience to mine, attaching meaning to arbitrary objects?

Bad trips happen.

Fear, delusion, confusion, anxiety, dangerous reality actually occurring that is real.

Glad you had a good and safe time!

Meaning with anything can occur.  That is some of the insight and therapy.  It can also be uncomfortable or delusional.

I enjoy more the breakthrough rich quasi mystical.  Seeing dimension of spaces much more clearly and alive.  Internal vision that has no meaning and really should not.  I know we usually like answers and hope in higher power.

Hi there! Thanks for the reply. Do bad trips happen when people do not like the feeling of psilocybin? Is this where the anxiety comes in? Or is it more about being around people you don't trust/ the environment doesn't feel safe?

There isn't always a rhyme or reason.  Sometimes it's simple chemistry we'll not likely know.  Sometimes it's known as to a trigger or drug combo that went wrong.

I have had bad mements happen on good trips.  Sometimes people or cops.  Sometimes it is dose and it takes a breakthrough.

Haha!  This guy!

Anyway, to the OP, I have had a couple bad trips and they were both brought on by what you have suggested.  Both times I tripped with folks that I didn't really trust and both times they caused a weird experience.  After the second bad time I didn't even take shrooms for about 11 years until this past October, when someone gave me 3 small mushies that I took by myself and made a fire in the backyard.  It wasn't enough to really even trip hard; I just got that feeling of being completely content with all that is.  It made me remember the beauty of mushrooms and realize that it wasn't that I didn't like mushrooms, it's that I don't like sketchy people being around while I'm on mushrooms.  It was a very beautiful experience, for precisely the reasons you mentioned in the OP.

As an aside, and I'm sure if you are a member here you understand this, but I feel the need to mention it anyway in case there are people here who haven't tripped yet but are interested and joined this site to gather info, if someone is tripping hard, don't f**k with them.  For the love of all that is good, don't f**k with them.  It took me a long time to feel normal after that second bad trip and it was all because my friend who I didn't trust to begin with (red flag #1 haha) convinced me to walk over to his apartment where his roommate and their friend (who were not tripping) f**ked with me so hard that I didn't take mushrooms for 11 years.  Such a shame bc mushroom experiences have been the #1 and #2 most beautiful experiences of my life.  I look forward to the solo trip again in my near future.

Peace.

Gratitude is almost always enhanced whenever I take a psychedelic  gratitude for being alive, for breathing, food and water, music and for making it through challenging experiences!

The intense sensitivity of a psychedelic experience can offer us opportunities in which to feel appreciative of the moment, but that same intensity can also lead one on dark and daunting journeys of mental experience. It's great to learn from and enjoy tripping, but just recognize that it's important to accept what comes your way, internally, and remember that you're, ultimately, safe, because sometimes trips can be very challenging or outright bad.

I believe it is an inherent aspect of an interconnected heart and mind, to feel grateful for
'external', internal and all aspects of experience. Sometimes it takes a powerful psychedelic to really dig that, but it's a beautiful feeling nonetheless. :sun:

I think bad trips happen when people take too much when they are not prepared or don't know what to expect and how to handle themselves on high doses. They can happen when you're alone as well, thought loops or negative thoughts can be overwhelming and sometimes hard to reverse or move through or get out of.

OP, I'm glad to hear you had a good experience. With most people, the sweet spot is about an 1/8 and they're easy enough to handle and the ego keeps a pretty good hold of what's around you.

This, bad trips I think come from self induced paranoias/fears.

bad trips can happen when the mushrooms show you something you dont want to see or when you react with fear and resistance or become confused about what reality is and whether there is a point to life or if life is some kind of sick joke.  do you ever have bad experiences in life? if so, then its silly to assume you cant have a bad trip.

Set and setting also implies your mindset. Psychedelics are like the self on zoom. Everything can be magnified but it gives you some tunnel vision in that sense too. Love and appreciation are powerful feelings without a doubt, but if in that time you feel some self doubt or general sadness, you may be forced to deal with those thoughts in a more powerful manner than you are used to. These thoughts tend to very much seem more intrusive than positive ones, even on a day to day basis. All that being said the reality of what a bad trip is, is dependant more on the personality of the person having it. Is this person generally good at putting themselves in a good mood? They are explaining it but am I reading a trip report from a constant complainer? I have seen some shit, I have had some pretty gnarly trips, but honestly the trips some might consider bad that I've had are far and few between, and even then I myself would not categorize them as such. Life is just a series of experiences, when you start to categorize them is the time you start overthinking on perspectives and possibilities.

The best way to look at psychedelics, especially if they become part of your life like they do for many, is they are just daily experiences, magnified. At that point the drugs aren't doing anything, you are.

Sometimes tripping isn't even close to yourself.  That can be good or bad.

Good trips are fun as hell alone.  Nobody to mess it up and be a bit more free.

I always find the phrase creep into my psyche on mushrooms, this is the best I've ever felt in my life! No other drug seems to bring upon the infinite bliss and peace you can experience as easily with DMT

Solo is the best, how else can you hear what the mushroom wants to tell you with distraction? It requires focus and sensitivity, in silence is where the real magic is, when the wind speaks to you, when you realize you are infinitely connected with everything in existence

I understand what you mean by not understanding how a bad trip can happen, it's kind of how you can't understand how it went good. Bad trips can happen to anyone! But yes obviously they are much more prone to if you have mental distress, and your set and setting is off. Don't ever count out a bad trip, they teach you more than the good ones. It's been an honor to have my ass kicked in by DMT and bask in hell, as much as it's been to bask in the eternal bliss of the heavens
