Kids can reject the teachings as they age though. i know i did as a teenager and though my Dad hated my mocking of his religion he accepted that i no longer wished to partake.

I think Christianity teaches good values and has brought alot of Good to the world so i don't think it's the worst thing you can indoctrinate someone with .
I don't think you give people enough credit though. we arent "robots" and im sure more people end up questioning their faith than those that blindly follow it. At least here in the west where you have the freedom to do so.

the best thing it ever taught, that can't be taught in a secular manner, is that life is everlasting (though it completely bungles how). it's a charming solution to dealing with illusions we feed ourselves in order to stave off the anxiety of death.

precisely. this is why the theocratic systems of government are insanely stupid; i mean, you can just look at the middle east and see.
though, the same notions you've granted those in the west, also apply to them.

Where do you think most African aid comes from? The schools that are built?
Christians do a lot for this world.
@ akira i wouldnt say the same notions apply to those in the middle east because they have to fear for their life if the deny their religion

children are not free, but freely given. can't really do anything about that. without some illusions humanity would kill itself off.

you should reconsider. they do apply. those that live there can and do often refuse to follow the exact notions exalted in the Koran, even in the midst of a theocracy. so why not give them a chance, and simply topple the authority, instead of lumping them all in together?

I'm all for them choosing to believe what they want, i'd never wish to take that chance from them.
i'm just saying the threat of being killed for doing so is not here in the west. Apostates do in fact get killed in the middle east.

Even if he does(idk who that is but in any case) it wouldn't be sanctioned by the ruling people and he'd be punished as a criminal. in the middle east you have mob justice where a woman can get stoned to death for allegedly burning a Kuran.

does it matter if he's allowed to be killed? technically, wouldn't they have to protect him?
let's see what the religious fundies think of that, then.

four of the big ones. four of numerous ones. what winning took place? at best, the US gov't kept their foot in the door, despite ultimately losing those, long enough to have trickles of consumerist enterprise. why are/were any of those our business?
oh yea! CAPITALISM/DEMOCRACY! and WE were the nation to spread it, as WE say it IS RIGHT FOR ALL, despite what they say.
now how is this any different from radical Muslims trying to spread their way of life?
Because it has been responsible for the majority of human progress the past hundred years, it has enhanced standard of livings for billions of people, radical Islam could never say the same, that's why there's a BIG difference.
so ends justify the means in your world?
and the US couldn't have made those same progresses without invading nations an overthrowing governments, instilling puppet-governments that end up as bad or worse, and accruing hatred world-wide?
In the past 40 years, those second and third world economies have been the huge winners in this horrible US dominated world you seem to judge so harshly, where would they be without the US and it's capitalist agenda? Not so good.
http://www.thinkadvisor.com/2014/05/09/emerging-markets-dominate-global-gdp
Going from 30% to 50% of global GDP isn't too bad in just 35 years.
and GDP determines quality of life [for each individual citizen]........?
Not always, but the emerging economies of the world and the citizens in those nations have definitely seen a much higher standard of living as a result.
It's been the citizens of the US/EU/UK and Japan that have suffered for their benefit, the Western capitalists sold out their own people for the cheaper labor.

the authorities...i mean if there was a mob, they'd be forced to protect him under the law...all i'm wondering is, how will the mob respond to that.

I agree Iraq and breathing life into the Arab Spring were huge mistakes. And that these things were done to destabilize the region.
But there are threats.
threats that cannot even hope to be a threat. Europe has always been a shit-show, and that's why most of the people on this side of the oceanic expanse feel the threat, because Europe does...you guys left Europe, we all did; be glad.
but no, so many people want to defend their "white races"...well, go back to Poland and defend it...oh how infuriating it is, "well the Muslim men are running! they should defend their country instead!" YES, GOOD, YOU GO BACK TOO, AND DEFEND WHAT BLOODLINE YOU THINK NEEDS IT.
that was more for Qman, that slight explosion, but i think you can catch my genetic drift.
They don't need any help, basically no Muslims even have the balls to live in Poland for obvious reasons, they don't play PC games over there.

go back there, was my point. you're not fighting for your country living all comfortable over here, you hypocrite.
also, Poland is great. a great country. filled with idiots just the same, but where there are no idiots, it's great. go back there and fight for it. solidarity, bro.
