our system is only better because you think it to be, based on the standards you set for something to be better or worse. if someone else claims this system is not better and doesn't jive with them, then they don't have to partake in/of it. not agreeing is not valid reasoning for the actions in the world today

four of the big ones. four of numerous ones. what winning took place? at best, the US gov't kept their foot in the door, despite ultimately losing those, long enough to have trickles of consumerist enterprise. why are/were any of those our business?
oh yea! CAPITALISM/DEMOCRACY! and WE were the nation to spread it, as WE say it IS RIGHT FOR ALL, despite what they say.
now how is this any different from radical Muslims trying to spread their way of life?
Because it has been responsible for the majority of human progress the past hundred years, it has enhanced standard of livings for billions of people, radical Islam could never say the same, that's why there's a BIG difference.
so ends justify the means in your world?
and the US couldn't have made those same progresses without invading nations an overthrowing governments, instilling puppet-governments that end up as bad or worse, and accruing hatred world-wide?
In the past 40 years, those second and third world economies have been the huge winners in this horrible US dominated world you seem to judge so harshly, where would they be without the US and it's capitalist agenda? Not so good.

Going from 30% to 50% of global GDP isn't too bad in just 35 years.

No, it's better because we have a more advanced legal system, constitutional rights, civil liberties, economic principles, cultural values, ect.
Northern Europeans created this system and it's far superior because of that fact.

Yes, I do understand where you're coming from, but you're not going to convince anyone that living in mud huts, having no modern health care, no modern education, no modern technology, no constitutional government is better than what we have today.
I guess one could make the argument that shitting in my bed is a better standard than walking to the toilet and using modern plumbing. It's based on the standard the person chooses to use, "do you understand this or no?".

no. i'm saying because YOU might think it's better does not mean it is actually better. however, the inverse could be extrapolated, as well.
additionally, i'm saying what akira says above me:

So, at what point does a threat to our way of life need to be dealt with militarily?
I agree Iraq and breathing life into the Arab Spring were huge mistakes. And that these things were done to destabilize the region.
But there are threats.

I agree Iraq and breathing life into the Arab Spring were huge mistakes. And that these things were done to destabilize the region.
But there are threats.
imo, and this is only MY OPINION, which is right for me, military intervention is appropriate when unquestionable evidence suggests or proves a nation or military organization attempts an invasion of the 'defending' country; the invasion would include violence, including but not limited to destruction of natural resources and civilian losses (be it life or property)
......and before anyone plays the "9/11 card"......
saying all this, i want to be clear that the US has had direct involvement in military actions throughout the region referred to as 'the middle east' since 1958, and has been implicated in supplying weapons to one or more sides, hence creating and sustaining its own economic/political agendas OUTSIDE OF ITS BORDERS since before 1958. Since 1991, the US has not left that region fully, and have maintained military presence and at times rule, as well as inciting coups left and right, further destabilizing an already unstable region. Additionally, the US trained many small faction leaders they then helped to pit against other factions, be it guerrilla or governmental. Did i mention, within the last 18 months multiple hospitals have been 'accidentally' bombed by the US despite radio communication informing them of their 'error'

threats that cannot even hope to be a threat. Europe has always been a shit-show, and that's why most of the people on this side of the oceanic expanse feel the threat, because Europe does...you guys left Europe, we all did; be glad.
but no, so many people want to defend their "white races"...well, go back to Poland and defend it...oh how infuriating it is, "well the Muslim men are running! they should defend their country instead!" YES, GOOD, YOU GO BACK TOO, AND DEFEND WHAT BLOODLINE YOU THINK NEEDS IT.
that was more for Qman, that slight explosion, but i think you can catch my genetic drift.
ooo, a pun. c'mon...it was good for me.
