Mushrooms in the redwoods
    #23941007 - 12/19/16 05:52 PM (7 years, 2 months ago)

Habitat:
Redwoods after a nice chilly frost

One type looks like chanterelles one is a black or purple color and I found a ton of these orange guys.  Don't think I'm gonna eat any but try to see if they will make a dye.  Any I'd would be helpful.

california right?
1-Cantharellus californicus
2-Helvella lacunosa
3-Lactarius rubidus (scratch the gills and look to see if liquid oozes out slowly, it should be clear to slightly milky but transparent.)  Are the stems hollow and do they break really easily if you bend them? Spore print should be white. If you dry them, they will smell like maple syrup/carmelized sugar.
