Is true that liquid culture is more prone to contamination. I always here conflicting info about this.

More prone than what? It can be easy to contaminate, and it can be harder to detect the contamination when it occurs. That's why it's recommended to test your LC on a small scale before using it for a project.

cool, another question. It might sounds silly. Do spores multiply while they are in the spore syringe?

No. But the spores can in exceptionally rare cases germinate and form hyphae and mate to form mycelium.

Mycelium does not produce spores. Spores do not multiply into more spores. Spores only come from mushrooms. The purpose of the mushroom fruit is to produce and distribute the spores.
Do you have an underlying reason for that question. Or is this just a question from curiosity?

Would love to see where the conflicting information is on that.

What is the whole point of liquid culture anyway? Can't u just create a spore syringe from a print.

Spores are basically never clean. Culture can be clean. Culture also grows faster than spores. Culture can come from a known clone or isolate, whereas spores are always a genetic grab bag.

Thats interesting. So it is the same process inoculating with spores or LC?

Same process in the sense that you are squirting some liquid into a jar, sure.

Not that I could find actually, and the all the rapports seem to come somewhere in the same time period from syringes from a certain vendor. Maybe the vendor messed up and there were nutrients in that water.
Weird though, because some TCs in those threads say it can happen. Take those with a grain of salt, I suppose.

I have seen germinated spores in spore syringes, too. The dark spore clump turned into a white mycelium ball. That's one reason why I store spores as prints and not as syringes. I still make syringes to hydrate old spores.

I made a couple of syringes a year ago and spores germinated in them, nothing wrong with that though, you can still use them without problems. I like to steer clear of syringes if it can be helped but if I was to make one again I'd use distilled water, because I've read that the minerals present in regular water may encourage spore germination.

I use distilled water for spore syringes and agar too. It's not like it's expensive (like 20c for a L) and my tap water is cloudy as hell, so much calcium carbonate...

The average user of today can wipe the floor with the knowledge of some of the TCs 2500 days ago is all I'm saying. Well maybe not the average user, but most of the non-TC vets anyway.
