Mycelium Running by Paul Stamets. You'd be looking at some kind of bunker spawn - woods chips and grain spawn in a burlap sac. You could add some of the chemical to your agar and it will help 'train' the myc to use it as a food source. disposing of it is a concern, not sure how toxic fipronil is but you can dispose of the burlap sacs as hazardous waste after they grow out as hazardous waste.

According to Wiki it's photodegraded so your best bet might be to actually spread it out as thint as possible.  Why did you get this contaminated dirt?

I got it from a crawlspace job.  Do you have suggestions I can send purposely polluted specimens of legal mushrooms like wine caps for analysis of heavy metals and halogens and such things?  These types of experiments would be more interesting experiments with this type of data as well as before/after soil tests. I went ahead and aborted out of this and spread it out thinly in the driveway to fill some holes as now I have not the time I thought I had for this.  Oh well.  But the idea is still interesting.  I have a few polluted old burn piles where lots of trash got lit on fire years ago although I admit it'd just be easy to bury that under a house or driveway too, just less interesting heh.

your local university ought to have the equipment to do GC/MS/ LC/MS , barring that it's probably pretty expensive to send it off to a proper testing lab.  but worth checking into I suppose.
