Had a really strange reaction to shrooms, wondering if anyone could explain what happened?

So I recently purchased half an ounce of cyanescens for me and my friends to take. I went to my friends house to take some with him and consumed around 2-3 grams, which is around the same amount that I had taken previously. We took them at about 4:30, had a pleasant trip, watched some trippy cartoons, everything was going fine. Around 11 I decided to head home as I was feeling pretty tired and didn't think the mushrooms were effecting me anymore. When I got up and started walking my legs were pretty wobbly and unsteady kinda like I was drunk, but mentally I felt ok so I left my friends apartment to head to my car. This is where shit starts going downhill, literally. As I'm walking down the stairs, my legs start buckling underneath me. I felt like gravity had become 10x stronger and I couldn't hold myself up. I hit the ground, hard. I tried to get back up and I couldn't. I tried several more times and I was too heavy and weak to move, I kept falling back down. My knees are pretty banged up from all the falls. Fortunately I had a blanket with me so I made a cushion for myself and lied down on the pavement waiting for this to pass. I was shaking really hard and gasping for air. I tried to call my friend for help but I couldn't operate my phone. I finally felt like I was able to get up and walk, so I made it to the parking lot next to my car and hit the ground again. I tried to unlock my car but I was still shaking too badly.I sat in the parking lot for a while, threw up a little bit, and finally was able to get into my car and lie down comfortably until I felt ok enough to drive home. Then I went home and tried to sleep it off. I've never experienced anything like this, is this what a "bad trip" is like? Because I didn't really feel like I was still tripping at that point, although obviously I attribute what happened to the mushrooms. Has anything like that happened to any of you before? It was pretty scary so I'd like to avoid it happening again. Thanks for any info you can offer.

Mushrooms can sometimes have this effect. Wood lovers are reported to have it the most of all the Psilocybe's ie. cyanescens. Not everyone gets it... I have heard some experts argue over it saying maybe its something of a toxin that wood lovers can soak up from certain wood or wood bacteria mingling with the mycelium but it is just speculation. Its generally talked about as some partial paralysis or total paralysis and can happen with any magic mushrooms if dose is high enough I have noticed. Not to say it always happens. But I have read it happen with Cubes too. Just much much less so. Makes me think of Astoria, Oregon and picking the wild cyansecens and all the paralysis stories about those. I have heard one expert recommend putting them in boiling water for a while but I still read reports of people dont that and still being paralyzed for some time.
Im sorry this happened. For this reason I do not ingest wood lovers because that is not a risk I find worthy because If you fall in a dangerous place you may injure yourself seriously or even risk something fatal.
A bad trip...not neccesarily....more like a bad time while tripping due to a chance encounter with something we dont understand enough yet... Thats just my take. Good day to you!

Yes it happens. Few possibilities maybe dehydrated maybe low blood sugar maybe vasco constriction related maybe a little of each. How long had you been sitting down for?

Pretty much the whole time before that, I got up a few times to get food and go to the bathroom but I was sitting/laying down for most of the trip. Also I was smoking weed idk if that makes a difference

Sounds like the mushrooms were telling you not to be an idiot and drive while intoxicated. I know it can feel like the trip has ended but you need to give your body enough time to fully process the shrooms before you even think about driving a car, this usually means waiting until the next day. You said your legs were wobbly as if you were drunk but you still thought it would be safe to drive? This could have been much worse if it happened while you were driving. Be more careful in the future and don't drive while intoxicated (friendly advice, been there done that myself too)

I thought I was pretty clear about not being intoxicated at that point...in case not, I was mentally fine during all of this. This was a purely physical reaction. My legs were shaking *like* I was drunk, but as I said I wasn't mentally impaired. I'm a pretty good judge of my own sobriety, and I didn't have any difficulty driving once I was feeling better. If I had, I would have pulled off the road and figured something else out. The reason I needed to go home was because I have pretty bad anxiety and don't like to spend the night out as I'm more of a homebody.

It's a woodlover thing and it happens fairly regularly. If there were a textbook for it I'd say your report was a textbook case.

Yup, I remember that happening on a liberty cap/cubensis combe tea I shared with some very old hippies on a commune back when I was 18 or so. They all had the good sense to stay by the fire playing scrabble and laughing whilst we young 'uns went exploring in the woods. Last thing I remembered was crawling on my belly through the pitch black dark of the forest through tears of uncontrollable laughter, and then waking up sleeping on a pile of blackberry vines with a female pit bull named Gumdrop under my head as a pillow. Also, couldn't see out of one eye for a day or so. All blurred up like privacy glass... Ah... the memories...

I think you're anxiety about getting home was killing your trip. Then when you started to leave your anxiety was lifting because you knew your be home soon. As that happened, you were able to start tripping again. I'm guessing when you went wobbly, it scared you a little and messed up any chance for a good trip from there out.
So, yea, kind of a bad trip.

sounds like wood lover paralysis. common for both ps cyans and azures.
My reaction to cyans is different, likely cause i take a lower dose. I get a lethergic effect, almost like a sleepy stupor during a part of the trip.

What you're talking about, psilocybes that are primary decomposers of wood...

Wow at first I was gonna say I had a similar experience but then that shit got intense lol. I've had a trip where I was in my house and it was on a particularly strong trip and I had just taken mushrooms the day before as well, well I was walking across my house but kept stumbling over and it felt like the house was a boat rocking back and fourth and my friend was like "what's wrong" and I just said "rocky seas"
What you explained especially with the gasping for air sounds quite intense though. I mean mushrooms are known to do some of the things you said like feeling heavy and giving changes in gravity; more so than say LSD.
Also cyanescens are strong dude so I'm not really surprised. and no that's definitely not a bad trip.

If your legs are shaking as if you were drunk after coming down from magic mushrooms then you are still intoxicated. It's dangerous to drive while you are tired so it's definitely dangerous to drive after coming down from a shroom trip while your legs are acting funny. You might think you are fine but your reactions won't be the same as if you were sober. That's why people say you should take two days for tripping. One day to trip and the next day to recover. That guy who said the anxiety may have killed the trip could be onto something

Yea, I have anxiety issues myself and I can't trip anywhere that I'm not comfortable to atay at the entire time. Usually I only trip at home in my bed.

Yeh this has happened to me before, you described it perfectly with gravity pushing down very hard, you did the right thing, whenever this happens, the safest thing to do is just lie down and wait for it to pass or at least pass in waves. Could risk really hurting yourself if you try to hard to walk. Just go with it.
