In which way do you feel your experiences were different?
If you could also elaborate on when you took the Niacin, which form you used, how much...
Use of Niacin to Modulate LSD and Psilocybin Trips.

500mg Niacin or Niacinamide has an effect much like a modest dose benzodiazepine, reducing anxiety and even trip intensity, so yes, thats not a hoax.
Dont eat more than that, for your liver.

Really? I've got some B-complex vitamins I used for lucid dreaming. But there's only 100mg of B3 in there, lots of B6 and B12 too. Might want to try it next time!

Robert Anton Wilson has mentioned using niacin and a bit of clever hypnosis to bring someone out of a bad trip. Not sure how much of the that was hypnosis/placebo.

Okay- so the last two times I tripped I supplemented with niacin. This is plain niacin- not niacinamide, not time released. Niacin normally causes skin flushes- but I did not experience that during the trips.
The first time I tripped with niacin- 7g dried cubensis- made a tea out of it- trip started ~15minutes after drinking the tea. The trip started off wrong- lots of confusing thoughts- so I thought I had nothing to lose by taking some niacin.
~1hour into the trip I took 100mg niacin- the trip seemed to calm- I kinda let go and surrendered to the trip- thats when the joy took over- at times it was almost unbearable- but I found that I could modulate the euphoria to a degree with meditation.
I ended up taking~ 3 more doses of 100mg niacin throughout the trip- The trip somehow felt cleaner and it lasted longer- but I was more alert throughout the trip than without niacin.
The second time I tripped with niacin - was even better- took ~7.5mg cubensis in capsule form. Each ~45minutes I took 100mg niacin- took a total of about 400-500mg. Results were similar- more alert- more calm- and free access to an infinite universe of joy. Between Lindsey Sterling and Shpongle I was lost.
I'm really not sure if the niacin did augment the trips because no two trips are the same but after two really nice trips maybe theres something to it.

Thanks for all the details.
I don't doubt Niacin could have an effect, although I do think that what you described could also be the trip naturally unfolding, the intensity of the come up usually passes by itself.
I never heard of Lindsey Stirling before, she's a sweetheart.

It's interesting, something that reduces anxiety yet increases the effects slightly could be a much better tool for people than a benzo.

Maybe it doesn't work for everyone, I guess the only way to know is to try it.
If taken on an empty stomach most people flush red- thats not dangerous and has never been a big problem for me, btw- I didn't notice flushing at all when I was tripping.
Niacinamide doesn't cause flushing but is more likely to cause liver problems- or so I read.
The first time I listened to Lindsey Sterling when tripping I was blown away. If you're interested in sampling some instrumental Lindsey Sterling violin/dubstep I highly recommend her first CD:
