All American Electric Autoclave Question
    #23936361 - 12/17/16 07:59 PM (7 years, 1 month ago)

Greetings Shroomeryites!

Got a quick question for all you all american steroclave users.

I wanted to make sure that it was okay for me to run the steroclave without the inner aluminum container.  I do not see anything in the manual saying DO NOT do it, but that doesn't its okay to do either.

The manual however does say that "The purpose of the inner container
rack is to provide an air space in the bottom of the container so that air may circulate freely. Place articles to be sterilized inside the
container."

The reasons I ask is because I can fit more jars in it without the aluminum container.  In-fact, its the only way I can fit how many it says it is able to fit.  The model is 75x and is suppose to fit 15 quart jars.  I can only fit 13 with the inner container though.

I saw some threads mentioning people not using it, but just wanted some reassurance as these things are not cheap.  Also, if I can run it without the inner container, do I need to do anything special?

Thanks in advance!

Does that expose jars or the glass to a heating element?

No they will no be in direct contact with the element.  There is still a support stand that would raise them above the heating element.  The aluminum insert that I am trying to avoid using would usually sit on the support stand, but instead the spawn containers would.
