Help IDing mushroom growing inside house-back door, garage
    #23934037 - 12/16/16 11:51 PM (7 years, 1 month ago)

Habitat:
Central COAST CALIFORNIA

Gills:
see picture

Stem:
Length, diameter, color, texture, hollow/solid, thin/thick, etc.

Cap:
Diameter, color, texture, conical/spherical, convex/concave, etc.

Spore print color:
Very important!  black?

Bruising:
I didn't touch it. One day appeared on my back door, waited 24 hrs-to show hubby- and then the shape changed! Looked like it had exploded. Black spores, I am guessing? Sorry, I am very ignorant on this subject, I need help[!

Other information:
No smell, cleaned area where I first saw it, I used water and peroxide.

I'm betting that house has serious mold problems.

Coprinus isn't a human pathogen but Stachybotrys is

Coprinopsis sp. is likely.

In any case, that house needs a serious makeover.

Only in the sense that if mushrooms are fruiting in your house it could mean that some dangerous molds are growing as well. And it means that wood is rotting.
