New Tactics in Drug War?
    #2393355 -

I saw on one of those annoying scrolling news tickers yesterday on CNN that the Bush Admin was supposed to unveil "new tactics" in the Drug War today. I have not heard anything about it. Does anyone know what's up with that?

What can possibly be next? I'm hoping they aren't classifying spores or anything like that...

Do tell? I find this more than a bit unnerving, especially when you consider that this is an election year.....

They're probably going to classify people who advocate drug decriminalization as 'terrorist sympathizers' and state that drug users and sellers are aiding and abetting terrorists. Nothing to worry about really.

the new tactics have to do with prescription drugs.
http://www.cnn.com/2004/HEALTH/03/01/bush.drug.policy.ap/index.html

i don't often use prescription drugs for recreational purposes. However, as an ardent opponent of the "drug war", i doubt that the Bush administration will be coming out with any drug abuse policies i support.

^^^^^^ What does Halliburton have to do with this?

Besides, with a administration that has brought us the DMRC and the Pat Riot Act, what do you think the policy is going to be? Harm reduction or treatment? Seriously...

Yes, that and online 'Drugstores'. There's also a proposal to increase funding for school drug testing. :frown:

Nope, I read it much earlier and posted, if you'll do that elusive "reading" thing, that NOONE else had bothered to research it. While the foil-hatters were talking about druggies being sent to the camps, I was reaing the real issue. Typical.

have you ever considered reading what you
write before clicking the post button?

at the very least to make sure it sounds at
least remotely reasonable?

why do you turn everything into an argument about
blind partisanship, dumb libbies and darkies when
none are applicable to the discussion at hand?

read the first 6 posts, evolving made a joke, someone
played off it and learyfan made his own sarcastic comment.

you shouldn't take things so seriously...maybe you need
to take off your tin foil hat tin foil hat (intended).

Their reaction is typical of their behavior. Liberals and conservatives alike are prone to reaction based on the past experiences that they have had, and their current beliefs. It's not surprising that hearing new drug tactics were being unveiled, people immediatly jumped to the worst possible conclusion, or more specifically, the one that most closely fit their model of how the world "is". In the time it took them to post the knee-jerk reaction, they could have looked up what the hell it was about and made a valid post about it. Instead, conjecture and prejudice took the centerstage.

wait, I'm having a difficult time with this one...

you're reading us the riot act for being prejudiced
and judgemental.

is this like bizarro world or something?

humans are 'prone to reaction based on the past
experiences that they have had, and their current
beliefs', not just the kind that are replublican and
conservatives.

the curious thing here is that somehow this is acceptable
to you when it comes to racial stereotyping, but when
someone jumps to the conclusion that the government's
new tactics in the drug war are probably going to be
bad news and makes a joke about it you get your knickers
all in a twist.

I don't get it.
